In 2025, the Federal Council set out the legal targets and the step-by-step approach for 2030, 2040, and 2050 in the area of long-term climate targets. In summary, these are:
CPI – Climate Protection and Innovation Act. Strengthening competitiveness through technological innovation. Every company is required to define a credible plan for CO2 reduction by 2030, 2040, and 2050.
The CO2 Act stipulates that greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced in stages to zero by 2050. All companies in Switzerland are now required to demonstrate a reduction of 2.25% in CO2 emissions per year (CO2 Ordinance, Article 66a). The CO2 levies are used to provide investment assistance to companies in networks and industry groups in order to modernize infrastructure and processes with innovative ideas.
The environmental system* from clearcarrep starts with the current situation and ensures legal compliance. CO2 measurements are recorded transparently for SMEs and verified credibly on an annual basis. Employees are involved in the continuous improvement process. Depending on the company's own efforts, implementation takes around 12 to 18 months.
*Environmental management system
Reducing emissions and waste: By systematically analyzing and optimizing processes, SMEs can reduce their consumption of resources and minimize their impact on the environment.
Compliance with environmental legislation: This enables SMEs to comply with legal requirements for environmental protection and avoid penalties.
Repair before replacement: This helps to sell more working hours and reduce logistics. Measuring CO2 in the quotation provides automated, credible proof.
Image enhancement: Demonstrable credibility strengthens the company's image as a responsible player, and can increase customer loyalty.
Cost savings: Through more efficient processes and the use of environmentally-friendly technologies, SMEs can save costs (reduced consumption of resources).
Competitive advantage: Environmental systems can give SMEs a competitive edge, as more and more customers and business partners attach importance to sustainability.
Access to new markets: Some markets and customers require certification to an environmental standard.
Employee motivation: Active participation in the environmental system can boost employee motivation and commitment.
Efficiency: Reducing downtime increases the number of passes per employee/workstation.
Improved risk management: An environmental system helps the company to identify and minimize environmental risks.
Improved capacity for innovation: Studying environmental aspects can lead to new ideas and innovations.
Improved communication: These activities promote internal and external communication on environmental issues. Transparency and perception of the company are credibly enhanced.
The phase model allows the plan to be flexibly adapted to each company. All participants receive the following tools for support: e-learning, central training, digital documents, greenbox, intranet page on legal requirements, photo documentation, and individual support.
