Counselling provides a space of safety and support in which you can freely express and explore yourself. As your counsellor, my aim is always to build a safe, trusting and non-judgmental relationship with you that adapts to your individual needs. This will help you explore your experiences and issues, and together we will work towards bringing about real change in your life so that you can realise your potential.
“Love is the only way to grasp another human being in the innermost core of his personality.”
— Viktor Frankl
“Courage doesn’t happen when you have all the answers. It happens when you are ready to face the questions you have been avoiding your whole life.”
― Shannon L. Alder
In my professional work as a counsellor I systematically consider the whole person – mind, body and spirit. I use an ‘integrative approach’ - meaning I draw upon various models of therapy/theory which I feel best suit my client’s needs including Humanistic and Transpersonal Psychology, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Psychodynamic Psychology. My approach recognises that it is the quality of the therapeutic relationship, rather than any one particular theoretical orientation, that is the most important aspect of successful therapeutic work. Thinking, sensing, feeling and intuiting are all given emphasis within the framework of the relationship. Using an integrative approach I aim to understand the complexities of your personal situation, which includes not only your internal world, but also you experiences within the wider family as well as socio-cultural, and psycho-spiritual contexts.
As a counsellor, I work according to an ethical code of conduct where I am held accountable in my professional work by a group of peers (fellow counsellors). I am happy to supply the details of the ethical code I follow upon request, and in our first session, I will provide you with the contact details for the group of peers who hold me accountable.
My aim is to help you explore your issues so you can move towards self-healing, personal growth and fulfilment. This forms an important part of therapy, and for some can lead to the discovery of a higher, spiritual level of consciousness that will facilitate positive changes and personal growth. My goal is to offer you an experience and knowledge that you can carry with you until you no longer need me. Whilst I trust I can help you in your needs, certain conditions may be beyond my capacity. If this is the case I will do my best to direct you to someone who can help.
Each session lasts 50 minutes and costs £45.
