Classes

Ballet

Ballet is the basic foundation for all styles of dance. Whatever you learn in ballet, it translates to values that can be used to pursue other forms of dance. The development of discipline and dedication. Ballet technique is very specific and requires practice to improve. In most cases, the qualities of discipline and dedication translate themselves to other areas of life like work and school. It can be extremely difficult to fix “bad habits” you create over the years by not learning proper dance technique, not to mention competing with other dancers who have been studying ballet at length. Ballet gives you the basic arm and leg movements you need in jazz, modern, tap, and ballroom. It helps you find your centre of balance, gain strength and agility and move gracefully. Today’s dancers who are not specifically focused on being professional ballerinas still incorporate ballet into their regular, dance-training efforts. Ballet is an essential part of being a good, all-around dancer.

At any stage of your life or career you can develop your fitness, musicality and artistry. Our candidates range in age from 2 to 60+!

Pointe work

You should never ever go en pointe unless your instructor tells you that you are ready. Pointe technique is the part of classical ballet technique that concerns pointe work, in which a ballet dancer supports all body weight on the tips of fully extended feet within pointe shoes. Pointe technique resulted from a desire for female dancers to appear weightless and sylph-like. Although both men and women are capable of pointe work, it is most often performed by women. Extensive training and practice are required to develop the strength and technique needed for pointe work. Typically, dance teachers consider factors such as age, experience, strength and alignment when deciding whether to allow a dancer to begin pointe work.

Tap

Tap dance is a timeless dance style! Made famous over the years by incredible dancers such as Fred Astaire, Ann Miller, Gene Kelly and many more!! Tap dance is also a fantastic way to stay fit, strong and healthy by improving your cardiovascular and strength fitness!!

Ballet Repertoire

Ballet repertoire is the term used to describe any dance or part of a dance, that is taken outside of the ballet in which it exists. It can also describe the list of ballets that a ballet company performs. Classes offered to our Elite programs students, RAD students and in some workshops (with Guest teachers etc.)

Private Classes/Coaching (Clases privadas / Coaching)

Unlike group dance lessons, private lessons have a face-to-face setting wherein your instructor will focus only on you. This means you have his or her undivided attention. In a way, this is beneficial for it means that your instructor will be able to personalize each lesson according to your skill level. You are most likely to progress faster since all your lessons are tailored according to your skill level. This means that your instructor will be able to focus on your weaknesses and help you work on them properly. While most people take private dance lessons to speed up the learning process, it’s also ideal for people who just want to learn at their own pace.

En Pointe Performing Arts

Musical Theatre is the combination of music (singing), acting and dancing and performers in this genre are commonly referred to as ‘triple threats’. Musical Theatre can help students to develop their sense of self and identity by simply allowing them to be expressive and creative in a safe environment. Musical theatre classes focus on applying and bringing together the disciplines of acting, singing and dancing, to create an effective presentation.

Singing and Acting

Vocal lessons are not just for singers. Lessons can help open up the range of the actor’s voice, as well as protect from stress and incorrect use.  Singing lessons can improve your chances of landing a role in a musical or in some commercials. Seasoned actors often take singing lessons to continue improving their voices. Beginning actors may take singing lessons just to expand their range and enable their vocal projection. Acting class requires everyone to listen, learn, and engage with each other to communicate effectively. These classes demand that we take time to process and understand the situation before we react. On stage, actors need to be attentive and responsive to cues and dialogue. Before you deliver your line, you need to listen to the one before yours.

Supplementary Technique Training (E.g. PBT, PCT)

Supplementary training is when other forms of fitness and exercise are used alongside dance training. Supplementary training is important for building general strength and stamina which can sometimes be lacking within dance training, due to the stop-start nature of a dance class or rehearsal.

Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is an innovative body-conditioning and strengthening program that has been designed to enhance students' technique by focussing on training the muscle memory required in each exercise in all forms of dance. It is a unique training system using ballet-technique specific exercises to train skill acquisition in a graded and progressive manner from junior through to advanced levels. PBT helps teachers around the world prepare their students to receive the strength they need to achieve their personal best.

The program helps with injury prevention and rehabilitation and enhances the ability of athletes to perform at their best. It can be difficult for students to feel which muscles initiate the correct alignment in training. However, with the use of an exercise ball, the students gain a great sense of posture and weight-placement whilst feeling each correct muscle group working throughout each exercise, which then stays with them when whilst performing in dance or their chosen field of sport

PBT focuses on core strength, weight placement and alignment of the body with a gradual approach of carefully designed exercises and repetitions of these exercises that trigger their muscle memory. The program is designed with safe dance methodology to promote a long, healthy career and is now being taught by over 4000+ certified teachers worldwide and over 3500 schools globally have added PBT classes in their curriculum for students.

PBT is not only a program to improve technique in ballet dancers, it is now being appreciated and incorporated in training by all forms of dancers, athletes, physiotherapists and even footballers!
