The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is the UK and Ireland’s leading, internationally recognised lifeguard certification requiring 36+ hours of training, a final assessment, and is open to anyone 16+ who meets the fitness criteria.
RLSS UK qualifications include rescue techniques for no-board-available and candidates or staff with access to a Pool Extraction Board (PXB) should also be taught the specific rescue techniques for that board type. RLSS UK Trainer Assessors must also complete a PXB update to teach PXB rescue techniques.

Christopher Griffiths is a RLSS UK Approved Training Provider delivering a wide range of courses.
Trading as Enjoy Water Safely, he is associated with Dashing Dolphins Learn to Swim and RLSS UK Qualifications in Worcester and has historical links with St John Ambulance (SJA) in Malvern.
Christopher Griffiths qualified as a First Aid trainer assessor in 2007 with SJA and converted to RLSS UK Qualifications (formerly IQL) in 2018.
Developing his career as a RLSS UK Mentor and Trainer Assessor, he has over 20 years experience in the Leisure industry supporting all ages to enjoy water safely.
He is currently on a pathway to complete his Batchelor of Arts (Hons) in Primary Education with Qualified Teacher Status at University of Worcester in 2025.

RLSS UK offers a two-hour Water Rescue Equipment Training session to build confidence and competence in using water rescue equipment. The training covers open water hazards, cold water shock, land-based rescues, and public rescue equipment. It is designed for individuals aged 16 and over, especially those near waterways, and businesses with water-related responsibilities.
The Open Water Emergency Rescue Award is a non-regulated qualification designed to assist in responding to emergencies in open water environments. It is suitable for staff supporting lifeguard teams and is a foundation for becoming an Open Water Lifeguard. The course covers emergency responder roles, responding to emergencies, CPR, and first aid, and is 12 hours long.
