  • What behaviors will you work with?
    • Dogs who are fearful, anxious, aggressive, lacking manners, house training, leash reactivity, and separation anxiety.
  • What type of training do you refer elsewhere?
    • Dog sports, hunting, protection.
  • Where does the training take place?
    • Classes are held in Lakeville, MN at Dakota Pet Hospital.
    • Private training is done in your home.
    • Separation Anxiety training is done online.
  • What happens if my dog gets it right?
    • Correct behaviors get continuously reinforced.
  • What happens if my dog gets it wrong?
    • Incorrect behaviors are ignored. The use of aversive methods/tools, like prong, shock, choke or spray collars, are discouraged. See the AVSAB Position Statement on the use of Punishment for more information.
  • Do you have any type of certifications to train animals?
    • I am certified in separation anxiety training (CSAT), have a Fear Free certification and a certification in training and counseling (CTC) from The Academy for Dog Trainers.
  • Do you only train dogs?
    • No. The learning theory is universal and can be used to train cats, cows, pigs, horses and other animals- even humans!
  • What type of charges do we look at for what types of training?
    • Pricing will depend on the service you are in need of as well as the necessary time it takes to complete the training.
  • Can any dog be successful with a training protocol?
    • Yes. While nothing in behavior is guaranteed, behavior modification can be successful as long as we consistently set the dog up for success and are repetitive with our practice.
  • How long does training typically take?
    • The length of training depends on a few things. First, the dog's individual learning curve plays a big part in how quickly we can move through a training plan. Second, client compliance is important. Practice, practice, practice! Lastly, ability to manage in the meantime can make or break the success of a training plan.
