Emma Wiles
(née van Inwegen)
I am an Assistant Professor at Boston University's Questrom School of Business in the Information Systems group. I am also a digital fellow at the MIT Initiative on the Digital Economy. My research is primarily focused on artificial intelligence in labor markets and the design of online platforms.
I received my PhD from MIT Sloan in 2024. My dissertation titled "Artificial Intelligence and Labor Market Matching" won the PhD Thesis Award in Artificial Intelligence in Entrepreneurship and Management (AIEM).
Previously I was a researcher at the University of Washington Evans School of Public Policy & Governance studying the effects of the Seattle minimum wage. I graduated with my undergraduate degree in mathematics and economics in 2015.
When I'm not thinking about labor market experiments you can find me playing soccer or board games, or ranting about the US healthcare system.
