Emily K. Pechar

PhD Candidate, Environmental Policy, Duke University

I am a PhD Candidate in the University Program for Environmental Policy at Duke University's Nicholas School of the Environment and Sanford School of Public Policy.

As a political scientist, I focus on public opinion of environmental issues, particularly climate change. My research explores the role of identities in driving political attitudes. Specifically, I look at how non-partisan identities -- such as parental, place-based, or conservationist identities -- change how individuals form their attitudes on highly polarizing policy issues. My research has implications for efforts to overcome partisan divisions on environmental policies through framing and communication.
