Hello!

I am Emílio Zanatta and I am an astrophysicist. My main research interests are galaxies.  We live in a galaxy, did you know? That's called the Milky Way and it is a quite a nice and cozy place to live, in my opinion.

There are plenty of other galaxies in the universe, in a wide variety of shape and sizes. It is very exciting to study them. But the galaxies I find most interesting are usually very far away… where most individual features, like stars and nebulae, are very hard to directly observe.

Fortunately, most galaxies host star clusters, such as Globular Clusters and Nuclear Star Clusters, which are bright enough to be visible from Earth even in very distant galaxies. So...

In my research I study extragalactic star clusters to understand how galaxies form and evolve.

To study extragalactic stellar clusters we need lots of astronomical data (both photometric and spectroscopic), lots of programming, statistics and a good deal of physics. Fortunately, that's exactly where I can help!

I have obtained my Ph.D in 2021 at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil). I am currently working as a Pos-doc at IAG/USP in São Paulo (Brazil). Come say hi!
