This article uses characters in popular films to demonstrate the theory and application of short term dynamic psychotherapy (STDP) in the treatment of performance anxiety. The reader is taught to identify affect phobias that are hypothesized to underlie performance anxiety. Similar in function to external phobias, affect phobias or internal phobias involve the avoidance of feelings (e.g., fear about feeling anger, shame about showing grief, pain about closeness), which thwarts adaptive responding and generates numerous behavioral problems. STDP treatment focuses on the restructuring of defenses, conflicted affects, and attachments. The resolution of the affect phobia requires systematic desensitization of affective responses (i.e., exposure and desensitization of underlying conflicted feelings). When patients learn to access adaptive forms of feelings, performance anxiety can often be resolved.

Not to be confused with the 2012 short film of the same name. This show provides examples of: Erotic Dream: Jeff's involve a lot of scantily clad, dancing men. Fanservice: The top half of Peter's naked butt is seen a few times at the start of the film. He is also shown doing exercises in only his underwear with the camera focusing on his crotch as well as being seen shirtless at various points in the film. The scantily clad men in Peter's Erotic Dream count as well. Happily Ever After: Said word for word for the outcome of Peter and Jeff's relationship at the film's end. Neat Freak: Peter. He even sprays the air and the doors of an elevator with an air freshener just b/c someone with a cold was there. Opposites Attract: The messy, unkempt chest Jeff and the germaphobic, clean cut Peter.

Multidisciplinary artist Charlie Osborne explores performance anxiety and liminal space surrounding a mysterious talent show in a haunted bingo hall for her short film, Bury-Man-Lane.

I decided to share our short film with ADAA because I always knew I needed to make something of my experience with anxiety. If someone out there finds this film useful to their life, XIETY has served its purpose as an educational tool.

Hello all, I have recently started directing commercials, wish to direct a feature someday. As the shoot approaches, I feel anxiety which cripples me down. It totally hampers my judgement. My sleep cycle and food habits go for a toss. It is a task to keep sane mind and function. Experienced filmmakers please advice. Do you face this? How do you deal with this? Does this feeling subside as you work more?

Due to the pressures of conservatory training, I acquired a sort of performance anxiety. Creating this persona that was Lady Laritza Labouche, reinforced my love for performing for audiences and acted as my protective shield.

The film opens with different musicians sharing why they love music and when they first remember classical music as a child. With contributions from Eugene Izotov, Christoph Eschenbach, Brant Taylor, William Short, and others, there is a foundational understanding that classical music is a profound art form that we all care deeply about and that holds deep meaning for us. From there, the narrative shifts to reveal that musicians often get profoundly nervous about performing because of the great responsibility the art demands, the great technical and musical challenges at hand, and the incredible competition for employment. Throughout the documentary, we observe a group of five young musicians take auditions, practice, and address their own personal struggles with performance anxiety. Interwoven throughout that narrative is a commentary from a series of different professionals, from symphonic musicians to medical professionals, performance coaches and instructors in other disciplines. Drawing insights from many of the highest level musicians in the field, as well as those in psychology yields a product with rich insights, not only about the complexity of performance anxiety, but also the challenging nature of performance, musical study, and practice.

The realism and the humor, the delicate sketch of embarrasing situation and the nice solution are basic virtues, near performances, of this short film about two actors and their not the most cmofortable roles.

Anxiety disorders are conditions in which you have anxiety that does not go away and can get worse over time. The symptoms can interfere with daily activities such as job performance, schoolwork, and relationships.

As part of my first production class since becoming a Graduate Student at Loyola University Chicago studying Digital Media and Storytelling, I got the chance to create my first independent short film. The requirements for the project, which constituted as my final project for the course, was that it not exceed five minutes in length, and showed proficiency and understanding of the following elements:

The 180 degree rule

Continuity of action

Entering but never fully leaving the frame

Mental health conditions can have a substantial effect on all areas of life, such as school or work performance, relationships with family and friends and ability to participate in the community. Two of the most common mental health conditions, depression and anxiety, cost the global economy US$ 1 trillion each year.

Edelweiss Athletes Bronwyn Hodgins, Jacob Cook, and Angela Vanwiemeersch, along with friends Kelsey Watts, Jaron Pham, and Zach Goldberg-Poch took a trip to Greenland in August of 2022. For 65 days, they kayaked the west coast of Greenland and climbed granite cliffs rising out of the Arctic Ocean. This is a short film highlighting one of those climbs.

How did this idea come about?

The idea came from an actual kitchen cupboard in my apartment. When my husband and I first moved in, we found a horrible looking old bible in a kitchen cabinet. I didn't know if it was worse to keep it or throw it away, so my compromise was to leave it there and just never open the cupboard again. With that as a jumping off point, I wanted to make a film about female identity, codependency, and pregnancy anxiety (I was five months pregnant when we shot the short).

This feels like a horror movie with a unique approach and many will be able to relate to anxieties within the main character. For you, what is the central horror taking place here?

Yes! So if I were labeling it, I would probably call How to Be Alone an existential horror story. I've always thought anxiety gets the short end of the stick in cinematic depictions: it's usually just someone looking sweaty and confused (or if it's a woman, sweaty and hysterical), because that's how it looks on the outside. But I wanted to peel back the skin and submerge into the terror that is the anxiety spiral, complete with the paranoid inner monologues, and depict the inevitable final face off with the beast of fear itself, which I think in those moments feels like some unknowable, Lovecraftian monster.

The lighting seemed very specific (particularly that blue light, the source of which isn't revealed until much later). How did you and your cinematographer, Caleb Heymann, approach the look of the film?

Caleb is the kind of incredibly talented DP who can listen to someone like me string off a bunch of adjectives and somehow immediately translate that into a lighting set up that communicates that exact thing. I wanted this short to have a surreal, uncanny, domestic dread vibe to it (there I go with the adjectives), Gregory Crewdson was a big reference, but it was also important to me that it never got too dark, too dreary. I think Caleb walked that line brilliantly. We wanted to be able to move fluidly between the imagined and the real, so the whole thing has a dreamy quality to it that I love. be457b7860
