Sandy Beaches Cruise XXV and the El Pueblo Unido Program (EPU) are teaming up to bring much-needed educational relief to public school students in Puerto Rico. Please join us in helping to rebuild and transform the third largest school district in the United States. There is no greater need, right now, or better place than Puerto Rico, to support the youth of our country. Check out the details of the El Pueblo Unido Program on the Home Page and Program pages of this website.

EPU has started their program with a public 6th-12th grade school, Escuela Francisco Manrique Cabrera, in the city of Bayamón and, WITH OUR HELP, is expanding to six additional schools this year!

Students and staff from Escuela Francisco Manrique Cabrera (pictured above) will be waiting to greet you when we dock in Puerto Rico.

Sandy Beaches guests have a variety of ways that they can support this program:

  • Donate money directly to the El Pueblo Unido Program! Instructions for how to donate are at the following link: Sandy Beaches Guest Donations. Donated funds give the program the most flexibility to address the various needs of students and staff!
  • Bring one or more student backpacks filled with school supplies on the cruise. The backpacks will be handed to students when the cruise docks in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Tuesday, January 8th. Much needed supplies are: Post-it notes, sharpies, construction paper, pipe-cleaners, glue guns, glue and other prototyping (building) materials for design challenges (see pictures of prototypes below).
  • Order backpack(s) and select supplies, from the list provided, to be picked up for our partner school at the following link: Home Depot Backpack List. Just make sure you select "OfficeMax Bayamón, PR Store #6183, Zip code 00961" as the location for pickup and select "Someone else will pick up the item" and designate "Jose Obregon, jobregon@elpueblounidoprogram.org, (650) 250-9598" to pickup.
  • Order other much needed items (paper, computers, projectors, classroom speakers, etc.) for school pickup at Home Depot at the following link: Home Depot School Misc Items List.

Note: Please send confirmation of any donations (monetary or item orders) to cruisecontrol@delbert.com so that we can make sure we make sure everything is accounted for...
