1. Open up your internet browser.
2. Enter https://www.audacityteam.org/ in your address bar.
3. Click on the button labelled "Download Audacity."
4. You will be brought to a new page.

5. Select the operating system on your computer.

6. Select an installer. Be sure to left-click to begin the download. Right-clicking to save-as does not work.
This example used the first installer that includes help files.

7. A dialog box that of an executable or .exe file pops up. Click on "Save File."

8. If you are in Firefox, click on the downloads arrow to show recent downloads.
9. Click on the installer executable file, "audacity-win-2.2.2.exe" to begin the installation.

10. Follow the instructions of the Audacity Setup Wizard. (Left to right, then down)

a) Click Next on the Welcome Setup Wizard dialog box to continue
b) Click Next after reading the setup information
c) Browse to where you want to install Audacity to, then click Next
d) Opt whether to create a desktop shortcut and then click Next
e) Click on Install
f) The installation progress bar fills up as download progresses
g) When downloaded, the copyright information dialog box appears. Read the copyright information before clicking Next
h) Select to launch Audacity and then click on Finish
11. You have successfully installed Audacity 2.2.2 to your computer. Click OK to begin using the software.

12. Explore the functions of the software. Hover your mouse over a button or icon. What do you see?

Note: You should be able to record, save, and export now. However, if you wish to export audio files as MP3s, you will need something called a LAME MP3 encoder. Review the Lame MP3 tutorial.
