Elowen is a young musician who is striving to get out into the real world and make her appearance into the music industry. She is constantly singing and sat at the piano or strumming on the guitar. To say Elowen is passionate about music would be an understatement. At a young age, she took to the stages at open mics around her local town and has constantly grown from there. Elowen loves to sing neo soul, rhythm and blues and jazz with inspiration from Aretha Franklin to Jamiroquai. In the past she has performed at weddings, school/college concerts, local events and festivals. She has worked with many people but wishes to collaborate a lot more in the future, open to being in bands or duos etc.
This is a little pub in Bude where I have been playing open mics every first Monday of every month for 4 years. I have built experience, and confidence over the years. This is a good way for me to try out new songs in performances and any originals I have created.
At this local cafe, I played an open mic. Through this open mic, the owner heard me and offered me a small 30minute set during another musicians set regularly. Through this i've built a good community and has given me a lot of experience in the performance world. Through these gigs, I have also been welcomed to other gigs through audience communication and first-hand too.
Through my socials online, I was recognised by a local golf club business, and they reached out to me. From this, I gained my first ever 2 x 45min sets gig playing guitar and singing. This was an amazing experience and gave me a more independent approach.
When I was 14, I played in an interval for the dance school show I attended. Through this performance, I had a couple approach me and ask me if I would like to play at their wedding as the Bride was walking down the aisle! This was an amazing experience, I learnt a song they wanted me to play.
Here is a performance I was asked to do for a celebration of local musicians. This was an amazing opportunity. I played the piano and sang for half of my set and then I played guitar and sang for the other half. It was a 30min set that we were all given for our slots with 5 minute change overs. Above was the poster that was put out for the gig as promotion. This was held at the local hall, The Parkhouse Centre in Bude. This perfomance came about for me through a previous performance slot I had done at the same place.
Earlier on in 2025, I was asked to be a support act for a Taylor Swift. This gig was founded through the public recommending me to an events manger. I played a 20minute set, singing and playing guitar. This gig led me on to another gig which was a very good opportunity for myself as a musician.
I made a demo myself of my original song 'Flip phones'. This included vocals and the keyboard. When I had finished recording this song I decided to upload it to SoundCloud. I then applied to BBC introducing which I have never done before. After a couple of days I had an email telling me they were going to air it! I am so grateful and very lucky to have succeeded this opportunity!
I have had a couple recording experiences. I completed my work experience at Sound Gallery Studios in Exeter when I was in year 10, and just recently completed my first recording in the band I am in there as-well. In 2024, I recorded a couple of covers for a local record deal which hasn't been published yet. Through college last year I recorded 2 songs that I released on Spotify and various other platforms.
This was my first ever release. I wrote this song in 2024 and released it on the 22nd of May. I played piano and sang in this song. The main instrument in this song was my voice as I did many tracks for harmonies and backing vocals throughout. I wrote this song through a college project and I produced it all myself in college and through their softwares as I had no access at home. I have performed this song various times.
This was my last and second release. In this song I am singing and playing piano. We added lots of strings, drums and a bass line. I loved doing the harmonies and adlibs on this song. I made this song purely because I wanted to and it meant a lot to me. I also recorded this song in college and had a lot of help from my teacher to produce, mix and master it as well. I have performed this song multiple times and will continue to do so in the future.
