Castle Black
Castle Black set is no longer at the location, part of the interior is on display in the Game of Thrones Studio a Banbridge.
Castle Black was filmed at Magheramorne Quarry outside Larne, Co Antrim, Northern Ireland, where part of the quarry face was painted white to represent the 'Ice Wall'.
The top photograph shows the Castle Black set during filming, and in the bottom photograph, taken in 2024, you can still see traces of the white paint.
Winterfell Castle
Winterfell Castle
In Series 1, Castle Ward in Co Down was the location for Winterfell Castle.
By Season 2, a new Winterfell set had been specially built at Moneyglass, outside Toomebridge in Co Antrim, and was used for the rest of series.
The set was totally destroyed in a fire in February 2022, and all that remains today is the tops of two of the towers.
