Ella's Collection
About Me
Welcome to my portfolio, I'm Ella Masters. I grew up and live in Columbus, Ohio and I'm currently a freshman at the University of Cincinnati studying Architecture. I may be a student, but I am also a curious explorer. It started when I was little with my parents moving often. Each time I came along for a new house or apartment tour I didn't wait for the realtor; I explored each room on my own. That need to explore continued on through my life as I started hiking with my grandparents. On the trail, I didn't wait for them, I walked on, eager to see what was around the corner. My exploration didn't stop at physical spaces but carried into my learning. In high school, I had the ability to try so many types of classes, which helped me to figure out what I truly enjoyed academically; art, architecture, and environmental science. My need to explore and experience helped me to find the things that I love doing most; art, film, reading, attending live music events, traveling, spending time in nature, and skiing. In the summer, I work part time as a server at a local Sporting Club and in the winter, I work as a ski instructor at Snow Trails. My goal is a career in architecture with a strong focus on sustainability and preparation for the changing climate.
About My Work
For my portfolio collection, I've pulled work from current classes, former classes and my own creations.
My first section, Architecture 2022-2024 is from a pre-college, 4 semester satellite program I've been enrolled in since my junior year of high school. The works from I & II reflect the work we did in the first two semesters of the program. In my senior year I completed semesters III & IV. The program is one of the few of its kind in Ohio, and I was one of two students selected for the National Technical Honors Society from our cohort. Through this program I also had the chance to compete at SkillsUSA states with my Quiz Bowl team! It has been a fantastic experience! More information about the program is at https://www.eastlandfairfield.com/o/hs/page/architecture-and-construction-management
The next section, Honors, showcases all that I will do through the Cincinnati University Honors Program. I will update it each year, showing what I have accomplished as well as going into depth about each honors experience I partake in!
The following section, CCAD College Preview, contains work I did during a three-week intensive program living on-campus at the Columbus College of Art and Design. My program focus was on Interior Design, Architecture, Industrial Design and Fashion Design. I loved getting a sample of the college experience and how immersive the program was. More details can be found at https://www.ccad.edu/college-preview
The next two sections, Creative Concepts and Drawing I, reflect work I completed in those high school courses. Creative Concepts focused on the elements and principles of art using a wide variety of media to develop our creative visual voices. Drawing I focused on basic drawing techniques, perspectives, color theory and more. These two classes gave me a strong foundation in visual arts, improved my confidence, and helped me find my own voice.
Finally, in Personal Art, I included my own creations. These are works that I have done over the course of the past 4 years for my own enjoyment.
