My dream room that I designed was the master bedroom.
Balsa Wood Building
Before building the tower, I made a couple sketches as a rough draft of my ideas.
I started with a rectangle outline and then filled in with the triangles.

Pasta Bridge Project
Pinterest Board for inspiration: https://www.pinterest.com/ellbrokamp/pasta-bridge/
For the base of the bridge, I formed X's with the pasta, then did rows of pasta over that to make it sturdy.
The bridge was flimsy before the base was built.

I have learned from this video how many important people have worked to create this building and how many amazing people are honored in this building. It is difficult to see people today completely destroying something that honors so many people who did a lot of great things for our country. It's disrespectful that people decided to destroy such important parts in our history. It's crazy because I found myself not even very surprised that this happened because of all the unrest that has been occurring in our country lately.
"Bridges Should Be Beautiful" TED Talk Q&A
Q&A
1. What three words would you use to best describe this Ted Talk?
community, connectivity, creativity
2. What was your favorite moment in the Ted Talk?
I thought it was really interesting hearing about the bridge they are building in Norway that seemingly floats and is built in very deep water. I've never thought about how the deepness of the water could effect the building of bridges. I also liked how he said "beauty enriches life."
3. What was your least favorite?
I wish he would have talked about the reasons that some bridges collapse.
4. Write a one paragraph answer...REALLY THINK about this! What did you learn from watching this Ted Talk?
I learned that bridges aren't just structures to help us cross obstacles, but a symbol of community. We all use bridges and we are connected in this way, similar to how a bridge connects 2 different points crossing an obstacle. I learned bridges can also be symbols of their location. I know whenever someone mentions the Golden Gate Bridge, I always think of San Francisco. This is a symbol of their city and represents its significance. Not only do designers have to think about how to design the bridge aesthetically and make it look beautiful, but also make sure that it is safe for the community.
5. How will this Ted Talk influence your Bridge design/making?
He talks a lot about long span and lightweight and how it is vital to keeping the bridge stable, so I will keep this in mind when building my pasta bridge.
6. How would you rate this Ted Talk on a scale of 1-5?
4.5
