Welcome Team Member!
I'm Tracy and Direct Mail has been very good to me and I am here to share with you how to do it .
I have made lots of mistakes along the way. I knew I was making things more complicated than they needed to be. So decided to slow down and really focus the simple steps of the business and not the results.
Weirdly, I then started to get results. From my experience over the last year, I developed the Turtle Mailing Method. This is the exact system I use today. Is it perfect? No. Nothing is. But close. Every business has its ups and downs, but if you follow this plan and don't stop you will get results. How you scale those results are up to you.
My mistakes? I started, stopped, I spent all my money on big mailings, lost money, made some money, broke even, and eventually lost hope of making this work consitently. Some made a profit some didn't. After lots of inconsistent results, had an epiphany.
I am trying to do too much at once and inconsistently...
I was chasing unrealistic expectations and burning out my financial recources at the same time. This is a recipe for disaster for most things in life. So I knew I needed to attack this from a different angle.
Now, what I am about to say isn’t a brand-new concept. In fact, it’s something that can you apply to almost any area of life. Try it. But for this training, I’ve organized it into a simple, practical system designed specifically to help you build a profitable and sustainable direct mail business.
One Manra that I learned during a low period in my life, is the Navy SEAL Motto:
“Slow Is Smooth, Smooth Is Fast.”
Interesting Fact: The average Sea Turtle lifespan is 50-100 years and the average Shark lifespan is 20-30
I know this sounds a little counterintuitive, but it’s one of the most powerful philosophies I’ve ever applied in both life and business. Whenever I start to feel rushed or overwhelmed, I come back to this simple reminder. "SISSIF"
By intentionally slowing down and focusing on one task at a time within your limits, everything becomes smooth and more efficient. Instead of feeling overwhelmed by eating the entire pie, you just concentrate on the slice in front of you. Results are the natural outcome if you disengage from the expectation and focus on the process. Stick to the process, commit to it and don't stop until you hit your goal.
Interestlgly after following this mantra, I got better results. Why? I disassociated and only focused on actions. Results come with consistent action and disasscociation with expectations. I treated it like my day job. I would tell myself I have to mail 50 letters today "THAT IS MY JOB". I treat it like any other responsibility like grocery shopping.
Breaking it down to a simple daily "Mantra" like this stops our brains from getting overwhelmed. When people get overwhelmed, we tend to rush, we cut corners, etc. We then establish unrealistic expectations, lose focus, fall into guilt mode, etc. When results are slower than expected, then distraction sets in, and eventually we start doubting ourselves. Then......we.....quit.
But when you slow down, trust the process, and follow the plan step-by-step without expectations, the results begin to unfold naturally almost on autopilot. Daily action produces daily results and over time those results exponentially grow.
So, by moving slower with intension, disassociating from expectations and staying consistent...we get more done—and it gets done faster and better.
This mindset became a foundation for how I approach both my life and my work. And over time, I realized how perfectly it applies to direct mail marketing, which has grown into both my passion and my profession.
One of the biggest challenges in direct mail marketing is achieving consistent results. Most marketers experience a pattern of ups and downs in Direct Mail. We have one great week followed by a dry spell. That inconsistency discourages new marketers, and many give up before seeing consistent success.
I know because I was in this cycle and it was very stressful.
But what if you could eliminate that rollercoaster—and instead, build steady, predictable momentum?
Traditional advice says to mail 1,000 pieces of mail and hope for a 3–4% response rate, then rinse and repeat. But times have changed. Costs are up and responses are down to more like 1.5% to 2% for products that cost over $200.
I followed this advice until I started to see my bank account quickly drain. Yes, the money was coming in but the money going out WAS MUCH FASTER! I asked myself how can I scale this without all the upfront costs and inconsistent cash flow.
Mailing 1,000 letters today costs around $1.00–$1.20 each. So, roughly $1,200 per 1000 piece mailing. This includes; one Forever Stamp at .78 cents, 2 pieces of paper, one #10 and #9 return envelope, one mailing lead and printing. Trust me I've calculated this meticulously LOL!
That’s a big investment, and if you’re NOT selling a proven product, you might as well take that same $1,200 to Las Vegas and bet it all on red!
Here’s what really happens. You do a big mailing. Before you’ve recovered the cost of your first mailing, you’re already paying for the next one and possibly the next. Each batch takes about two to three weeks before sales start coming in. Then, if everything went as planned, you get a quick burst of orders—then they taper off.
In the meantime, you could have one or two 1000 peice $1,200 mailings (already paid for) out without any cash in hand. It becomes a hamster wheel of spending and waiting. Unless you’ve got deep pockets, it’s almost impossible for the average person to sustain that kind of pace.
This is why I develped the Turtle Mailing Method. It's a plan that integrates the “Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fast” philosophy into a realistic, profitable direct mail business.
Like the turtle in the classic fable, you’ll move steadily and deliberately, building momentum as you go. You’ll mail at a pace you can afford, pay for each batch from your revenue, then grow your business slowly within your means.
The result? A long-term, sustainable income without the stress, burnout, or financial strain that usually comes with traditional large-scale mailings.
The turtle always wins—and now, so can you.
The Rabbit? They blow their marketing budget and quit.
The bottomline is commit to following a one year plan. No deviation. Set your daily or weekly mailings and then disassociate from the results. The power of momentum will then kick in over time and the snow ball will grow.
Turtle Mailing Method System Overview
This method is a proven way to get results by taking it slow and following a step-by-step system that the military use...
Start where you can afford. Can you mail just 10 letters a day? This is about $72 a week if you take Sunday off or $84 if you mail 7 days a week. This is a good starting point that most people can afford. You can start with more than 10, but REMEMBER, you have to be able to maintain that expense until you start to get regular sales start to flow in. Stopping, slowing down, missing days will cause you to lose mementum.
For each sale you make, scale it gradually by increasing your daily mailings by 2 mailing pieces. For example, after your first sale, you’d go from mailing 10 letters a day to 12 letters per day, and so on as you get more sales stacking on every sale. This keeps your expenses level and growth in line with your budget.
It takes time. Don't have unrealistic expectations. Keep consistent and it will build. In the meantime commit to the process and enjoy life! Visualize the lfe you will have when you are making an extra $1000 or more per month.
The key is consistency to maintain sustainability. Many people fail because they overspend too quickly going for the "Hail Mary" pass, only to get in over their heads then have to quit. They blew their budget and are broke again.
Always have reserve funds and only add more expense when you get profits.
The Turtle Mailing Method emphasizes starting small, being consistent, and growing slowly.
This steady pace builds momentum, and over time, your growth becomes unstoppable. At first you get 1-2 sales in a month, then 1-2 a week and then 1-2 a day by sticking to this plan. Eventually, you should be mailing 1000's of letters a month and making $1000's a week in sales. But this is 100% up to you. I can't promise anything but I know this works for me and many others.
Start Small — Stay Consistent.
Begin with what you can comfortably afford. Whether that’s 5, 10, or 20 letters a day, consistency is what matters most. Daily action works every time. The goal is to grow your mailings from 10 a day to 100's a day!
Try Not To Skip a Day.
Momentum is everything in direct mail. Missing even a few days or a week will slow results. Treat your mailings like a business—steady, predictable, and disciplined. Yes you can take Sunday off LOL!
Reinvest Profits to Grow.
Each time you make a sale, use part of that revenue to increase your daily mailed letters. That’s how you scale without adding debt or risk.
Track Your Results.
Keep a simple log of how many letters you mail, when you mailed them, and what responses came in. This helps you spot trends and fine-tune your results.
Mail Quality, Not Quantity.
Good mailing lists, strong offers with a clean and professional presentations always outperform sloppy mass mailings.
Patience Pays.
Results build over time. Trust the process—slow is smooth, and smooth is fast.
Focus on Proven Offers.
Choose programs with solid, reputable companies, and commissions high enough to make your efforts worthwhile. (Ideally $200 or more per sale.). Use the Kitchen Table Cash System to generate front end leads and cash then sell the higher ticket offer on the back-end.
It Like a Real Business.
Set goals, schedule time daily, and stay accountable. Your mailbox can become your paycheck if you stay consistent and keep mailing.
Follow the marketing kit of your chosen programs instructions.
