I was able to install Google Play and Google Services as separate apks to pure system image api 16 and 17, but they don't really work after that (services crush and play not opens). So seems like it is not possible to make them work on pure AVD image because they should be installed with root access. The same for updating Google Services on AVD system image with Google API preinstalled - can't update because of incompatible certificates, can't uninstall even using adb because don't have access.

I came across another solution to use the Google play services on an emulator. The guys at provide very fast emulators on which you can install Google play services. They just need you to sign up to begin downloading and you need Virtual box installed. At the moment they cater for Android 16 and 17 but more are on the way.

The key is to select the target of your emulator to, for example: Google APIs (ver 18).If you select, for example, just Jellybean 18 (without API) you will not be able to test apps that require Google services such as map.Keep in mind that you must first download the Google API of your favorite version with the Android SDK Manager.

Hello, I've looked at other threads in here regarding this but none solved my problem. I followed Android Police's guide on my Fire HD 10 and Google Play downloaded fine and all apps work great. I just purchased a 12th gen Fire HD 8 and installed Google Play on it. Some apps work fine but others will not run and this error is displayed: {App} won't run without Google Play Services, which are missing from your device. I tried factory resetting multiple times and no luck. Anyone know how to fix this?

I found manually searching play store and avoiding play services helped massively to reduce corruption. My Google accounts so badly hacked that with Google support I was still unable reclaim accounts and, whilst they were active.

My phone screen kept flashing update this and that via play services and was lethal to dab on those messages and nearly always a manual Google play search revealed apps deign needing play services update actually didn't manually searching.

Play services would dump a download just on accessing about version. My device was ruined and on newer one it all began again hence all of the above. Photos, drive, Etc still work not overwriting my phone system and Facebook definitely less outside meddling with my privacy settings but I've an important feature disabled and that contacts are not stored on device, but I'm happy with this as my calls out were getting corrupted with misdirected destinations before.

I'm shop for phones which definitely have not sniffed a Google search engine/services and my list from a subsidiary connected to duckduckgo with different platforms useful, the duckduckgo also has developer sites which teach how to rid Google from an android. My Acer tablet part way to such but I think I need a bigger understanding base to progress easier.

In case you missed it you can now install the minimal flavor of the android app that does not require google services. Keep in mind things like location tracking and notifications will not work as those depend on google services. You can grab the APK from the actions tab on the github repo, just select the latest commit and download the minimal version.

Mine is the same way. I did as suggested, the "force quit" button wasn't available and I uninstalled some other Google play services, now I can't get into play store to reinstall. Just white screen. Got nowhere.

I have a rca Voyager tablet that is 4 years old and I keep getting notifications telling me to update Google play services (which I did at least 30 times). Can't afford to but a new tablet at this time. What do I need to update and how do I do it? I usually let my husband take care of things like this.

I had disabled the google play services app previously due to storage issues. When I go to uninstall updates, it tells me it is unsuccessful. Is there another trick to get the notifications to stop appearing?

Apps may not work if you uninstall Google Play services.

If you disable play services most of your phone probably won't function properly anyway including the play store. How would you then install/update your apps? You would be trading some additional privacy against a whole lot less security.

Great app, love it (as it works on node red as well ). However, as it's paid, how would OP get it without the play store? Having said that both the HE mobile app and Pushover work great for me. In fact notifications come about a second faster on the HE app.

google services = significant privacy compromises. A lot of debates about whether this is important or not. However, there are a growing number of folks who have personal and societal concerns about it -- and want solutions that enable greater privacy and freedom from these platforms.

There are A LOT of apps that work just fine with MicroG and/or no services at all. Not certain why the Hubitat app doesn't play well with MicroG -- must have some dependencies on google-specific services hooks that other apps don't require. Would love to see the Hubitat team resolve this but understand they have limited resources and must focus on the ones that have the broadest impact for their users.

Since then Android has released a lot of improvements and features which are not all backported to Jelly Bean. This results in increased developer and QA time spent on new features that require special handling. Consequently, we are deprecating support for JB in future releases of Google Play services. For devices running JB, Google will no longer update the Play Services APK beyond version 21.30.99, scheduled for the end of August 2021.

The Google Play services SDKs contain the interfaces to the functionality provided by the Google Play services APK, which runs as background services. The functionality required by the current, released SDK versions is already present on JB devices with Google Play services and will continue to work without change.

This is the recommended course of action. To discontinue support for API levels that will no longer receive Google Play services updates, simply increase the minSdkVersion value in your app's build.gradle to at least 19. If you update your app in this way and publish it to the Play Store, users of devices with less than that level of support will not be able to see or download the update.
