Dr. Eleni Tomai is Assistant Professor at the Cartography Laboratory of the School of Rural, Surveying and Geoinformatics Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens, Greece.Â
She holds a Diploma in Rural and Surveying Engineering (1998), an MSc (2001) in Geoinformatics and a PhD (2005) in Geographic Information Science from the School of Rural, Surveying and Geoinformatics Engineering, NTUA, Greece. She has participated in various research projects in the field of Geoinformatics at NTUA, the INRIA Institute in France, and the Institute of Applied and Computational Mathematics of FORTH, Greece. She is co-author of 2 books and 40 publications in scientific journals and conference proceedings with over 470 citations. She serves as a reviewer for many academic journals in her fields of expertise and is a member of the ICA Commission on Cognitive Issues in Geographic Information Visualization. Her research interests include geospatial knowledge semantic representation, ontologies, theoretical cartography, and geospatial literacy.
