la luma

A short graphic narrative composed of text and illustrations about the journeys my midwife grandmother made at night, often under difficult conditions, in the Marche countryside to assist births after World War II. The true protagonist of the drawings is the landscape, recalled through the filter of memory. The title, La luma, is a dialectal term meaning "oil lamp". 2010
