Electroceramic materials and their applications are one of the most active branches in Materials Science. Likewise, they can be considered as the most visible exponent of the technology transfer process, with immediate applications on almost every engineering field: electronics and communications, manufacturing equipment, energy generation, storage and distribution, biotechnology, aerospace, automotive, security and defence.

The XIV edition of the Spanish National Meeting on Electroceramics, Electrocerámica 14, will take place in Castellon de la Plana (Spain) from 26-28 June 2019, being organized by the Universitat Jaume I (UJI), the public university of Castellon province, and the ´Ceramics for Electronics and Energy´ division of the Spanish Society of Ceramics and Glass (SECV). The meeting is expected to serve as an important forum where experts and interested companies will have the chance to debate on recent advances and emerging topics in the field.

The city of Castellon de la Plana is a nerve centre of the Spanish ceramic sector, which is in turn a vital piece of the industrial fabric and the socioeconomic development of the province (Castellon) and the Valencian Community itself. Since its foundation in 1991, the UJI works on satisfying the demands of the ceramic sector, thereby contributing to its constant growth. UJI´s main role is related to the university training of human resources, but it also plays a significant role on R+D tasks: it brings together an extensive number of research groups, departments and institutes which, straight linked to the ceramics industries, aim at solving their problems and increasing their competitiveness.

According to the Spanish Ley Orgánica de Universidades, the celebration of this scientific conference in a Universtiy Campus is among the exclusive functions of the public universities, including: “The production, development, transmission and review of science, technique and culture, and the dissemination, valorisation and transfer of knowledge at the service of culture, quality of life and economic development”, all in full agreement with the aims and principles observed in the UJI statutes.

The aim of the meeting is to stimulate all participants to share recent results, insights, questions and ideas on the advancement in the understanding and applications of electroceramics, covering topics such as:

    • Dielectrics, ferroelectrics and piezoelectrics
    • Pyroelectrics and electro-optics
    • Magnetics, magnetoresistors and magnetoelectrics. Spintronics
    • Ferroics and multiferroics
    • Electronic, ionic and mixed conductors and their applications
    • Novel processing methods
    • Nanoparticles and nanostructures
    • Thin and thick film materials
    • Fuel cells and batteries
    • Energy generation and distribution
    • LTCC and microwave dielectrics
    • Electroceramic devices and applications
