No. Their admission is included in their registration fee

Where do dancers go when they arrive?

Dancers will enter using the main entrance and look for the Dancer Check- In sign. Here they will provide their name and studio to receive their dancer bracelet. This dancer bracelet stays on their wrist for the duration of the competition and gives them access to the dressing room area, backstage and the auditorium.

Where are the Dressing Room Areas?

There are two main dressing rooms on either side of the auditorium. There will be signs posted to show which rooms are designated for your studio. Look for your studio's name for direction.

Are parents permitted in the Dressing Room Areas?

No, the only people permitted in the dressing room areas are registered dancers, teachers and those with a chaperone pass.

This is for the safety of the dancers and to help alleviate congestion in the dancer areas.

Who gets a chaperone pass?
Only teachers, registered dancers, staff and those with a Chaperone Pass are permitted in the dressing room areas. This is for the safety of the dancers and ensures that the studios have enough space to get ready. Chaperone passes are delegated by each studio so if you have a question about chaperones, please reach out to your studio director.

Will there be programs available for purchase?
Our digital program will be posted on our website approximately one week prior to the event. A PDF copy will also be sent to studios for those parents who wish to print a copy. A very limited number of printed copies will be available to purchase at the event.

Will there be merch?

Yes we will have a selection of EB merch available for purchase in the lobby.

Is there a canteen available?

Yes there will be a small canteen available with drinks and snacks. Water, gatorade, etc...

Are food and beverages permitted in the dressing rooms?

In order to keep our dressing rooms clean, we would ask that any food or beverages be consumed  in the lobby. With all of the costumes around, it's much better if you don't eat in there.  If you decide to have a snack or drink in the dressing room, clean snacks are preferred and be sure to put your trash in the garbage can. Sealable water bottles are preferred.

Are parents permitted in the dressing areas?

Only teachers, registered dancers, staff and those with a Chaperone Pass are permitted in the dressing room areas. This is for the safety of the dancers and ensures that the studios have enough space to get ready and rehearse comfortably. Chaperone passes are delegated by each studio so if you have a question about chaperones, please reach out to your studio director.

My studio has asked me to be a chaperone- how do I get my pass?

All chaperone and teacher passes are in the Welcome bags provided to studio directors when they arrive. Please contact your studio director for information on how to get your pass.

Are photos and videos permitted in the theatre?

Flash photography is strictly prohibited as it is hazardous to the dancers on stage. You may take photos of your dancer (with the flash off) but not of any other studios’ routines. Video recording is discouraged as your phone can sometimes block the view of other audience members.

Your videos and photos are included in your dancer registration fee.

All studios will receive a professionally recorded video AND the photographs of their routine via Dropbox to be shared with dancers after the competition. A big thank you to McKiel Videos who will be our videographer for the competition. Sit back, relax and let us take care of preserving the memories

Why do we need to arrive early?

All performance times listed in the schedule are approximate performance time. Competitions can and do run ahead and behind schedule sometimes. It’s important to arrive early so that your dancer can be dressed, stretched, and prepared to dance when their turn comes. For information on how early your dancer should arrive, please contact your studio director. Please keep in mind that during our session with lots of groups, parking may be a little further away so it’s a good idea to allow some time for that as well.

What time does the venue open in the morning?

Doors to the venue will open at 7am so that dancers and teachers may access the dressing rooms. Doors to the auditorium will open at approximately 7:45am each day.

What is a Lightning Strike?

Each judge will have a limited number of Lightning Strikes to use during this competition. If a judge chooses a routine to strike, a sound will be played after their routine and that dance will go straight to THE FINAL BEAT Sunday evening. If you hear a thunderclap and the lights change when you're done your routine, a judge has chosen your routine to go straight to The Final Beat! Feel free to celebrate on stage with your teacher and we will also take a photo on stage with our Lightning Strike sign.

Lighting Strikes can be used for any routine regardless of age or level. Routines that are selected for a Lightning Strike will be placed in the corresponding category for The Final Beat.

Will there be a livestream?

The livestream will be available on our website electricbeatdance.ca free of charge.

RESPECT & ETIQUETTE

A reminder that all guests of The Centre and Electric Beat Dance are asked to treat the venue and people working and participating in Electric Beat with respect and courtesy. Disrectful language or violence will not be tolerated and you will be asked to leave the premises by on site security.

We want to ensure that all dancers and their families have a great time and we need your help to do that. We encourage cheering and encouragement for all studios and for each other. The camaraderie that exists with Maritime Studios is incredible and we would love to see that in the competition environment as well!

Dancers, please clean up after yourselves in the dressing rooms by placing all garbage in the garbage. We also ask that you respect your fellow dancers in the backstage area. For group categories the wings will be kept clear so that dancers can have the ability to line up properly. Dancers will not be permitted to watch from the wings. For solo categories we can allow some leeway with that with the understanding that if it gets too chaotic we will ask dancers to leave the backstage area.

Spectators if you need to leave the theatre please do so in between performances so as not to disturb the people around you or block the judge's view. If you need to, you can stand along the back or the sides until the routine is done before finding a seat.

QUESTIONS/CONCERNS

For questions about the venue please ask one of our staff who would be happy to assist or find the right person to help. For anything dance related, please reach out to your child’s teacher. If you have concerns, please contact your Studio Director and they will direct you to us if needed.

Best of luck to all dancers competing and we will see you all very soon!
