Electric Flight

My goal is to come up with an electric powered light aircraft that can be easily transported without requiring an additional transport vehicle or trailer

The motor to date (older failed version is shown attached with battery pack) - motor assembly weighs 16.5 lb - motor MP 12100 25KW 50kV was purchased on Alibaba

The working assembly is direct drive with a rubber torque damper between the motor and drive shaft (also helps with shaft/motor misalignment). A cooling fan was placed behind the spacer.

Battery pack consists of 12 8Ah batteries set as 4 parallel battery units in series for a total of 32Ah and 75 V when fully charged. - weight is 40 lbs. An old file folder box was used to hold the batteries. The 450 Amp ESC and amp/volt sensor are on top and the Master and Impulse switches are on the side. The ESC and and Sensor wires attach at the round connector on the side. The open box shows the wire harness connecting all the batteries.

Throttle and instrumentation: throttle is assembled using a RC servotester - Panel shows amperage use and battery voltage status - on/off switch for motor. Amp/volt meter, Servotester, BEC, Battery, Switch and throttle cogs (bottom pic) all fit inside the aluminum box. A 7 wire cable connects the control box to the ESC on the battery box.

Folding undercarriage for Kasperwing (everything except for motor, battery and 50x18.5 propeller) can be stored in the bag.

Setup is done in 4 steps and takes 10-15 minutes including battery and motor attachment.
