[Do Presidential Elections affect the Stock Market?]

A Research Project by Aarush Singh

Hypothesis

I believe that Presidential elections do create an impact on the stock market. The point of this project is prove my hypothesis and see if it impacts it negatively or positively or in both ways.

I have gathered data on the multiple federal elections that have occurred in the last two decades. I also gathered data on the performance of the s&p 500 index fund in past two decades.

We can infer from this data that in the year of presidential election the APC is mostly positive.

This shows us the APC every-year from 1928 to 2020(zoom in if not visible)

We can conclude with the last two graphs that my Hypothesis was right. The market is affected by elections, but not in a specific way. It is shown in these graphs that the market is very volatile around the election time frames
