If you want a durable, budget-friendly wired solution that fits comfortably on larger heads without battery anxiety, choose ELECDER i45; if you need advanced noise cancellation, wireless freedom, and immersive spatial audio for long listening sessions, choose JBL Live 770NC.
• ELECDER i45: Its biggest strength is the rugged, simple wired design with an adjustable headband perfect for bigger frames, but its trade-off is the lack of wireless connectivity and active noise control features. This pick is for anyone seeking a no-fuss, portable headset for school or travel who prefers a secure fit over high-tech bells and whistles.
• JBL Live 770NC: It offers powerful wireless performance with adaptive noise cancelling and massive battery life, yet it comes with a higher complexity level and requires charging management. This pick is for the audiophile or commuter who demands premium sound isolation and modern Bluetooth connectivity.
The ELECDER i45 is built around a philosophy of simplicity and reliability. As an on-ear headphone, it features a foldable design that collapses to roughly 6 by 4.53 inches, making it incredibly compact for tossing into a backpack during a commute or airplane trip. The enclosure combines nylon and plastic, materials chosen for durability rather than luxury. While it targets students and teens, the adjustable headband ensures that adults with larger head circumferences can also wear them securely. I often see parents looking for a kids headset for big head because standard models slip off or pinch the ears, but this unit's design specifically addresses that gap with its flexible adjustment range.
For those prioritizing longevity over features, this device delivers a straightforward experience. It utilizes a dynamic driver with a frequency response spanning 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, which covers the full spectrum of human hearing. However, users must remember this is a wired connection via a 3.5mm jack. There are no buttons on the earcup for volume control or track skipping; all media management happens directly on your smartphone, tablet, or computer. This eliminates the risk of mechanical button failure but requires you to keep your device nearby.
This product is ideal for environments where battery life is irrelevant. Since it draws power from your source device through the cable, you never have to worry about it dying in the middle of a class or a flight. It is also excellent for sports earbuds for big head scenarios where you want something that stays put without the weight of a heavy battery pack. The rounded, oval earpiece shape sits on the ear rather than enclosing it, which keeps things cool but relies on physical sound isolation rather than electronic silence. If you need a reliable backup pair that works instantly without pairing or charging, this is the tool for the job.

In stark contrast, the JBL Live 770NC is a powerhouse of modern wireless technology designed for the discerning listener who wants total control over their audio environment. These are over-ear headphones featuring a comfort-fit fabric headband that distributes weight across the top of the head. The build includes a carrying pouch and a detachable audio cable, offering versatility even when the battery runs low. With four internal noise-sensing microphones, the device employs True Adaptive Noise Cancelling, a feature that actively listens to your surroundings and adjusts the cancellation in real-time to eliminate distractions.
The audio engine here is significantly more sophisticated. It houses 40mm drivers capable of delivering JBL Signature Sound and virtual surround sound through JBL Spatial Sound technology. This means stereo content gets transformed into a more immersive experience, which is a game-changer for movies and gaming. Connectivity is handled via Bluetooth 5.3, which supports LE audio and allows for stable streaming even at lower bit rates. The inclusion of Audio Mode and Video Mode ensures that sound remains perfectly synced with visuals, a critical detail for anyone watching content on tablets or laptops.
Battery performance is where this model truly separates itself from traditional wired options. You get up to 65 hours of playback on a single charge, dropping to 50 hours if you run both Bluetooth and Active Noise Cancellation simultaneously. A quick five-minute charge provides four hours of music, solving the "dead battery" panic instantly. The auto-play and pause sensors add another layer of convenience, stopping music the moment you lift the headphones off your ears. This makes it a superior choice for daily commuters, office workers, or travelers who spend long hours away from a power outlet. It is not just a headphone; it is a complete audio ecosystem that adapts to your needs throughout the day.
• Best for Big Heads and Secure Fit: The ELECDER i45 wins here due to its adjustable headband and lightweight on-ear construction, specifically mentioned as suitable for various head sizes including adults, whereas the JBL Live 770NC uses a fabric band that may feel different depending on individual head pressure preferences.
• Best for Battery Independence: If you hate remembering to charge your gear, the ELECDER i45 is the clear winner since it has no internal battery and works forever as long as your source device has power.
• Best for Noise Isolation: For blocking out a noisy classroom, office, or airplane cabin, the JBL Live 770NC dominates with its True Adaptive Noise Cancelling and four-mic system, while the ELECDER i45 relies solely on passive physical isolation.
• Best for Wireless Freedom: If you need to move around without cables getting tangled, the JBL Live 770NC offers Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity with a 10-meter range, whereas the ELECDER i45 is tethered by a 1.5-meter cord.
• Best for Immersive Audio: The JBL Live 770NC provides spatial sound and surround effects with its 40mm drivers, creating a wider soundscape compared to the standard stereo output of the ELECDER i45.
• Best for Travel Portability: Both fold well, but the ELECDER i45 folds smaller (approx. 6x4.53x2.87 inches) and weighs less (0.28 kg), making it easier to slip into a pocket or small bag compared to the bulkier JBL Live 770NC.
• Best for Durability in Schools: The ELECDER i45 is marketed heavily for school use with a simple, robust design that resists the wear and tear of student handling better than the more delicate electronics of the JBL Live 770NC.
• Best for Tech Integration: The JBL Live 770NC supports voice assistants, OTA updates, and seamless switching between devices, features completely absent from the analog ELECDER i45.
After weighing the specifications and intended use cases, I would buy the JBL Live 770NC for my personal daily use. The combination of adaptive noise cancellation, 65-hour battery life, and spatial audio creates a premium experience that justifies the upgrade over simpler models. However, if I were buying specifically for a child with a large head who needs a rugged, no-battery-needed option for school, I would switch to the ELECDER i45. That said, for the average adult seeking a bluetooth earbuds for big head alternative in a headphone form factor, the JBL offers a far more versatile and future-proof solution. Ultimately, if you value silence and immersion, go JBL; if you value simplicity and zero maintenance, go ELECDER.
Yes, the ELECDER i45 explicitly features an adjustable headband designed to accommodate different head circumferences, including adults, making it a strong candidate for those who find standard headphones too tight. The JBL Live 770NC uses a fabric headband that distributes weight, which many find comfortable, though specific sizing details vary by user preference.
No, the ELECDER i45 is a wired device that draws power directly from your audio source via the 3.5mm jack, so there is no internal battery to charge or replace. In contrast, the JBL Live 770NC requires regular charging, offering up to 65 hours of playtime on a single charge.
You can connect the ELECDER i45 to iPhones and iPads, but you will likely need a separate Lightning to 3.5mm adapter for newer models like the iPhone 7 or iPad Pro 11 and above, as the headphones do not include one in the box. The JBL Live 770NC connects wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.3, eliminating the need for physical adapters entirely.
The JBL Live 770NC features True Adaptive Noise Cancelling with four microphones to actively block external sounds, while the ELECDER i45 relies on passive sound isolation provided by the on-ear design and cushioning. If you need to block out loud environments, the JBL is the only choice with active cancellation technology.
