Marbat (المربط) is a Mauritanian online marketplace for livestock and meat.
Through Marbat, you can select an animal or a meat cut, choose your preferred slaughtering, cutting, and packaging options, and have your order delivered to you.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, how long we retain it, and the choices and rights available to you.
This policy is based on the actual functionality and data practices of the Marbat application.
We collect only the information necessary to operate the service and fulfill your orders.
When you create an account, we collect:
Your name.
Your phone number.
Your phone number is also your login identifier and may be used by our delivery personnel to contact you regarding your order.
We collect and store the delivery addresses that you add to your account.
When you choose to add a delivery address using your device's location, we may collect your location once, with your permission and while the application is open.
We do not continuously track your location.
We collect information related to your orders and payments, including:
Products or livestock ordered.
Order date and time.
Order amount.
Delivery information.
Payment-related information necessary to process the transaction.
To send you order updates and notifications, we use a technical identifier associated with your device and your Marbat account.
We may collect information that you voluntarily submit through the application, including:
Product reviews.
Delivery instructions.
Descriptions of customized or special requests.
Other information you choose to provide when using the service.
We use your information only for operating and providing the Marbat service.
This includes:
Creating and managing your account.
Processing and fulfilling your orders.
Calculating delivery fees.
Communicating with you about your orders.
Sending order status and service notifications.
Managing loyalty points and rewards.
Providing customer support.
Processing payments through our payment provider.
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not use your personal information for advertising purposes.
The Marbat application does not contain advertising tracking tools or advertising audience measurement tools.
Location access is optional.
When you add a delivery address, the application may request access to your device's location while the application is being used. Location information is collected only for that specific action.
We do not:
Track your location in the background.
Continuously monitor your location.
Track your location when the application is closed.
The purpose of using your location is to calculate delivery fees based on the distance from the nearest Marbat location rather than applying a fixed fee for an entire area.
If you do not grant location permission, you can manually enter your delivery address and continue using the service normally.
Marbat uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), provided by Google, to send notifications related to your orders and the service.
This requires a technical device identifier associated with your Marbat account.
You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings. Disabling notifications does not prevent you from using the Marbat application.
Payments are processed through Bankily.
Marbat does not see or store your Bankily banking secret code or banking PIN.
For payment processing, certain information may be transmitted to Bankily, including your Bankily phone number and a one-time code displayed to you by Bankily when required for the transaction.
The one-time code is transmitted to the payment provider for authentication and is not stored in our database or application logs.
We may share or transmit the minimum information necessary with service providers that help us operate Marbat.
These providers include:
Supabase provides database and account infrastructure used to operate the application.
Firebase Cloud Messaging is used to deliver push notifications and order updates.
ChinguiSoft is used to send verification codes by SMS.
Bankily processes payments made through the application.
Our delivery personnel may receive the information necessary to complete a specific delivery, including:
Your name.
Your delivery address.
Your phone number.
This information is provided only for the purpose of delivering your order and contacting you regarding that delivery.
We do not authorize these parties to use your information for unrelated purposes.
We retain your personal information for as long as your Marbat account remains active.
When you delete your account:
Your personal information is deleted immediately, subject to the limitations described below.
Accounting and transaction records related to completed orders may be retained where required by law.
Such retained records are anonymized or separated from your personal identifiers so that they can no longer be associated with your name, address, or phone number.
We retain legally required financial or accounting records for the period required by applicable law.
Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information.
Through the Marbat application, you can:
View and update your profile information through "Edit Profile".
Delete saved delivery addresses.
Delete favorites.
Disable notifications through your device settings.
Permanently delete your Marbat account.
You can permanently delete your account directly from the application:

Before confirming the deletion, the application explains what information will be deleted and what information may remain in an anonymized form.
Account deletion is permanent.
If you no longer have the Marbat application installed, you can request account deletion by contacting us from the phone number associated with your Marbat account.
We will process the request within 30 days at the latest.
If you have an active order that has not yet been delivered or cancelled, account deletion may be temporarily refused until the order is completed or cancelled.
This is necessary to ensure that we can contact you and complete or resolve an active delivery.
Once your account has been deleted, you may register again using the same phone number. Your new account will be treated as a new, empty account.
We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information.
These measures include:
Encrypted communications using HTTPS.
Passwords stored in hashed form rather than plain text.
Database-level access controls and security rules designed to restrict users to their own data.
Restricted access to personal information based on operational requirements.
However, no method of transmission or electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
If we become aware of a security breach that affects your personal information, we will take appropriate steps to investigate, mitigate the incident, and notify affected users when required by applicable law.
Marbat is intended for adults who are legally capable of entering into a purchase transaction.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18.
If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a person under 18 without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the application, our services, or applicable legal requirements.
The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when this Privacy Policy was most recently revised.
