Ekahuil is a mexican cellist, improviser and composer based in the Netherlands that crosses the classical, the experimental, and the alternative, positioning himself in a unique territory between metal, neoclassical, world music and street music with ancestral influences.
His music reflects a wide spectrum, creating a powerfull sound world that fuses the tradition of classical cello with the strength of metal, rock, and grunge, alongside mexican folk rhythms and meditative, atmospheric soundscapes inspired by ancestral mesoamerican cultures.
As the founder of CellOut!, Ekahuil aims to bring cello music to different contexts by taking music out of concert halls and into different spaces creating a bridge between creation, art and society.
