This was a programme I had the opportunity to attend that took place at SCAPE. This event allowed me to meet many professionals from differing industries such as doing sales, talent sourcing, entrepreneurship and many more. At the event there was even a special guest where I had the opportunity to meet the deputy prime minister of Singapore, Mr Lawrence Wong. I even had a privilege as the only photo I took at the event was a photo with him!
Through this programme, it gave me the opportunity to understand more about the pros and cons of each career and which career I should choose based on my personality and ability.
After the connection event, the next segment was learning about an app I was aware but did not know the function of LinkedIn. It was an app that I got to learn how to operate and the functions it carry such as building an account for yourself and how to find a job from there. It was a true eye opener for me as I immediately started to set up an account and try to gather connections. By going onto LinkedIn and searching my name (Neo Eik Hong), you can find me! It was truly an area for me to put stuff like my job experiences inside for job hunters to be aware.
This event allowed me to meet a new group of people around my age when I had a real fun eating and getting to know them. I really feel that this event has given me a headstart in my future because this is something not many people at my age in Junior college really know yet. It also got me to think that still just purely studying everyday may not turn to be the way to go in this period of time.
