As teachers, we put a lot of thought and time into our courses. Often, we take that vision and put it into a structure that fits the what we experienced. That structure is the one we know, love, and have always used. What we are being asked to do now is try new. Our work now is to look at how we can take the experience we are used to and productively move it into an eight-week and hybrid format that enhances student learning. This space is designed to guide participants through an intentional process that accomplishes the learning goals and the needs of our students.

Questions to consider
These are some questions to consider before converting your course.
Gather the Foundational Information
Using this resource, pull together the necessary information from the course you are converting.
Map the Original Course
Use this resource to map out what was done by students in the original course. This is also where you identify what supports the learning goals and what doesn't.
Complete the Initial Conversion
Using this resource, put things into an eight-week course. No decisions are being made just a shift to an eight week format.
Complete a Transparent Design Inventory for Signature Assignments and Activities.
See the video in the resources for more information
Accessibility and Inclusivity Review
Using this resource and those in the conversion resources, continue to address the ways you are enabling success for all students.
Workload Estimation
Use these resources to consider what you are asking of both you and your students.
The Course Shell
Now is when we turn our attention to how the course is delivered through the learning management system.
Planning Communication
Having the design in place is an important start but communicating those decisions is the next step.
Student Support Inventory
Take some time to consider the different forms of student support as well as the ways you help students find that support.
Moving to Hybrid
This section will help you determine which aspects of the learning goals would be best served in an asynchronous environment and which in synchronous.
Assessment and Evaluation
Assessment, measurement, and evaluation are very different things. This resource discuss those differences.
