The Environmental Hydrology Laboratory is currently in Iloilo to support ongoing technical discussions for the Iloilo Water Resilience Initiative (IWARI), focusing on the implementation of volumetric water benefit calculations for Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) projects and related initiatives.
As part of this collaboration, the laboratory is assisting IWARI in estimating the volume of water conserved through implemented interventions, guided by the framework outlined in the working paper: “Volumetric Water Benefit Accounting: A Method for Implementing and Valuing Water Stewardship Activities.” This approach provides a standardized method for quantifying water benefits from stewardship and NbS interventions, enabling more consistent evaluation of project outcomes.
In addition, the Environmental Hydrology Laboratory will provide technical inputs to the development of the Iloilo Province Integrated Water Security Plan, ensuring that volumetric accounting methods and water stewardship metrics are effectively integrated into provincial planning processes.
This collaboration aims to align local water security strategies with data-driven conservation and accounting frameworks, supporting improved decision-making and strengthening long-term water resilience and sustainability outcomes for the province.
