Last 22-24 April 2026, the Environmental Hydrology Laboratory participated in the Earth Day celebration of the Municipal Government of Taytay, Rizal through the Environmental Learning Camp, an initiative aimed at raising environmental awareness and encouraging community participation in protecting watersheds.
The three-day activitiy included interactive discussions, field observations, and hands-on learning activities. On Day 1, participants attended a lesson on interconnectedness of aquatic systems within a watershed and joined an ecotour at Tungtong Falls. Day 2 focused on water quality sampling activities along the Pasig River, where participants were introduced to basic environmental monitoring techniques and the significance of maintaining healthy river systems. On Day 3, the participants visited the Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park (LPPWP) for a learning session on Wetland Management and their role in ecosystem protection.
Through activities like the Environmental Learning Camp, the Environmental Hydrology Laboratory continues to support initiatives that promote environmental awareness, watershed stewardship, and community engagement. By introducing participants to real-world environmental issues and hands-on learning experiences, the laboratory hopes to inspire greater appreciation for the interconnectedness of our water systems and encourage collective action toward protecting and sustaining our natural resources for future generations.
