Greater than 2% of CO2 emissions globally originate from the aviation sector. This could increase by over 300% before 2050 without changes or measures. The plot below shows the predicted trend for the emission until 2050.
According to European Clean Sky 2 Project, the regional aviation market shares 27900 units in global commercial fleet size. The turboprop aircraft contributes 54% of the fleet. Moreover, there are 36% of the airports that only use the turboprop aircraft.
In the next 20-year prediction, the regional aviation has a growth rate of 4.5%, and the overall commercial aviation has a 4.0% growth rate. There will be 8200 new regional aircrafts to be built.
