Download Caps Lock Indicator Dell

I just bought a new Dell Studio 1747, unfortunately it does not have any indicator lights for Caps lock, Num lock, etc. It seems Dell provided a software solution to the problem, as when I first played with the system a notification would popup. However, Dell also installed a bunch of software I did not want, so I formatted. Now I can't seem to find and reinstall the software solution...

I cleaned my dell inspiron15 3576 motherboard using 70% isopropyl alcohol and after 1hour tried to switch it on and saw my caps lock light is continuosly on for a minute while no other response from the system. I tried everything replacing ram slots, removing each device from laptop, removing cmos battery, pressing powerbutton for 30s and when i plug my charger i noticed the battery is not showing charging light, plus always the same thing caps lock light is on for some time.

@jayeff i have one more laptop which is very old and i clean it with isopropyl ones in a few years. It is still working. My dell laptop i removed the cable, battery, all the stuffs and kept pressing on power button for one minute to drain out remaining current from motherboard and then opened it and took the motherboard apart to clean and wipe using a ear bud. I returned each part very slowly and carefully back to its place. And even though the motherboard doesn't respond. There is no signs of burn any where on board except this caps lock thing.

I was also annoyed with the caps-lock indicator stealing focus. I'm a fast typist, but not a touch typist as I regularly use caps lock to make capitals - done it that way since I was young and it's a hard habit to break! This was especially annoying as focus would be taken from a browser, IDE or word-processor in which I was writing. I narrowed it down to Dell QuickSet and removed it from startup in a quick burst of anger.

Turns out QuickSet, whilst having some trivial features such as visible volume/brightness indicators, is quite essential for the eject button and other multimedia key functions (e.g. battery info). I had a look on here and seeing as you ddn't get much luck with your solution, thought I'd try fiddling around with the registry myself. I went straight to the Dell QuickSet registry keys and changed a couple, and found to my surprise, that one of them changes the appearance of the dialogs for brightness, volume, etc. Setting this to 1 meant there was NO caps lock indicator, and the volume/brightness indicators are more colourful, and whilst I prefer the previous transparent grey ones they're not too bad.

Just find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Dell Computer Corporation\QuickSet\QuickSetControl and set it to 1

Let me know what you think. I've not tested this extensively yet, so not sure if there are any new problems to be wary of, but so far I'm happy.

Okay, good. The kernel is alive. In a panic, the LEDs blink. Not so good that the caps lock indicator does not respond -- or is that normal on your system?

That the Ethernet stack responds to a ping means it is alive at a low level; good.

A shot in the dark here. I have seen the Dameware Virtual Keyboard break cap lock light. Not sure if it also impacts the num lock indicator. You can remove the Dameware Virtual Keyboard from device manager while leaving the Dameware client installed.

Your system may show the caps lock notification if the notification is enabled in the settings of your display adapter. Moreover, OEM applications (like Logitech Setpoint) may also trigger the current behavior.

Before proceeding to turn off screen Caps Lock notification, check if rebooting your system sorts out the problem. Also, check if you can use a toggle key (e.g., Fn>>F8) to disable the caps lock notification. You may also check if the issue persists if another keyboard (or On-Screen Keyboard) is used.

The Caps lock notification may pop up on the screen if the display adapter is configured to show the notification when the caps lock is enabled/disabled. In this context, disabling the caps lock notification in the adapter properties may solve the problem. But keep in mind this option may not be available to all users.

The on-screen notification of caps lock may be shown if your keyboard (or Ease of Access) is configured to show the notification when the caps lock is enabled/disabled. In this case, disabling the caps lock notification in the keyboard (or Ease of Access setting) may solve the problem. But these settings may not be available to all users due to different OEMs.

The caps lock indication is not a Windows feature, either it is a part of a driver package or is included with a utility. You may find the utility causing the issue by clean booting your PC (as discussed in solution 3). If you do not require the application/utility, then you may uninstall the application to solve the problem. For elucidation, we will discuss the process for Logitech Setpoint.

If all of the above failed, then you may edit the system registry to stop the caps lock notification. But keep in mind these keys may not be available for all users due to the different OEMs and utilities.

If the issue persists, then check if creating another Windows user account sorts out the problem. If not, you may use a _________________ to stop the notification or map another key as the Caps Lock key. You may also try the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center to disable the caps lock notification. 5376163bf9
