The General Motors Corporation has developed a diet plan, GM Diet plan, whose aim is to help the employees achieve success with their weight loss goals. GM Corporation hopes that through this program, its employees would remain healthy and stay in shape. The diet encourages employees to limit their options to specific types of foods. The foods in question are those rich in the right amounts of proteins that the human body requires for daily survival. The diet plan has increased in popularity worldwide. The program helps with the loss of between 10lbs and 17lbs in 7 days. This fast-paced program has a specific diet plan for each day of the week.
Day 1
The first day of the GM Diet plan is all about eating enough fruits only. The choice of fruits is limited to those that do not contain any carbohydrates, starch or potassium. Therefore, avoid fruits such as bananas. Take enough amounts of water on the first day, around 8 and 10 glasses. The best fruits for consuming on Day 1 include kiwi, watermelons, papaya, oranges and apples.
Day 2
On Day 2, GM Diet encourages the consumption of vegetables. None of the vegetables eaten on Day 2 is unadvisable. Vegetables ensure that the body has enough amounts of fiber. Vegetables are very helpful in the regulation of the body’s sugar content. The lightheadedness that a person feels in Day 1 due to the consumption of too many fruits is non-existent in Day 2.
Day 3
Day 3 is all about mixing up the diet plans from Day 1 and Day 2. Here, every person is free to mix fruits and vegetables in any manner he deems fit and consume it all up. However, just as in Day 1, the intake of Bananas remains prohibited.
Day 4
What sets Day from the previous three days is the fact that one is allowed to eat bananas. This is mainly because of the cleansing that has taken place in the body during the first three days. The intake of bananas allows the body to receive the sodium and potassium that it had lacked in the previous three days. The highlights of Day 3 include taking bananas, milk, and vegetable soups.
Day 5
While the diet for the previous four days might not have taken the taste buds by storm, the Day 5 GM diet plan is guaranteed to achieve this goal. This is because the plan for Day 5 sees the introduction of beef and tomatoes into the diet. On the fifth day, eat nothing else except beef and tomatoes. The plan is all about restoring strength to the muscles and body in entirety due to the consumption of beef, which is rich in proteins. Substituting beef with chicken or eggs is fine.
Day 6
By Day 6, the body should be lighter than before. Not only that, but also the body should be much fresher. By the sixth day, do not feel guilty about eating beef and accompanying it with a wide range of vegetables. By the sixth day, the body should have shed off around 4kgs of its weight. The skin shall also be glowing more than it has ever done.
Day 7
Day 7 is all about getting ready for the next seven days. This includes stocking up on fresh fruits. An intake of fruits throughout the entire day is allowable. Brown rice should also feature either at breakfast or during lunch. Eat the brown rice with some broccoli, asparagus and cabbage. Brown rice helps feel the body with enough carbohydrates and energy to last the entire day.
Does GM Diet Plan Work?
As is the case with all diet or weight loss plans, the effectiveness of GM Diet has been questioned repeatedly. However, all the available data indicates that the diet plan is very effective. The loss of 4kgs in the first seven days is possible and highly achievable.
The GM Diet plan has made the planning of meals much easier for everybody, including vegetarians. Normally, this plan encourages the interchangeable intake of starch, vegetables, fruits and meat over a seven-day period. Although this diet plan recommends the consumption of meat, it is a known fact that the strict vegetarians would find this option unpalatable. However, strict vegetarians have no reason for getting worried thinking that GM Diet plan does not cater for them. The vegan version of this diet plan helps with weight loss. This version also helps with the proper maintenance of the body’s slimness and proportionality.
Some people decide to embrace the vegan lifestyle permanently, and for the rest of their lives. In the same manner, some decide to embrace the vegan lifestyle on temporary basis, primarily because their main goal is to eliminate all meats and eggs from their systems. The two groups have a very effective diet plan to use in achieving their goals. For the GM diet plan to produce the much-desired results, avoid taking any form of alcohol before embarking on the program. The intake of alcohol should not only be stopped before embarking on the plan, but also during the next seven days when following it ton the latter.
This is how vegans and the strict vegetarians should follow the GM Diet plan:
Day 1
The first day is set aside for fruits only. Take around 10-12 glasses of water on the first day. Although the focus is on fruits, avoid consuming any banana on the first day.
Day 2
Take enough vegetables and potatoes on the second day. Bake some potatoes and take a cup for some added energy. Take enough vegetables during lunch and dinner. Vegetable soup is fine.
Day 3
Take a mix fruits and vegetables on Day 3. Take fruits and vegetables during breakfast, lunch, dinner and the midday snacks. Take water and fruit juice but avoid potatoes and bananas.
Day 4
This day is set aside for the intake of milk and bananas. Consuming a combination of milk and bananas the entire day, and some vegetable soup during lunch and dinner is fine.
Day 5
Add tomatoes and brown rice to the GM Diet plan on Day 5. A cup of brown rice would produce enough energy for the entire day. Add some tomatoes for cleansing purposes.
Day 6
The sixth day of GM Diet plan is great for vegetables and brown rice. Consuming a mixture of vegetables and a cup of brown rice during the entire day would be an excellent idea.
Day 7
A mixture of brown rice and vegetables, combined with the intake of fruit juices for the midday snacks would help the vegetarian achieve his goal of weight loss.
A strict adherence to the GM Diet for vegetarians would make the vegetarian lose between 2kgs and 3kgs in the 7-day period. This plan helps vegetarians feel not only lighter, but also makes the skin to glow more. The diet plan helps vegetarians enjoy the effects of detoxification, which take place in the first 2 to 3 days.
The popularity of the GM Diet plan in India stems from the huge amount of vegetarian flavors found in it. The fact that the plan encourages less consumption of meats is an issue that most Indians find very appealing. Most Indian delicacies place a heavy emphasis on vegetables, which is an added reason for Indians to embrace it wholeheartedly. The diet plan is loved by many Indian women for the simple fact that they are able to shed off excess weight without making huge alterations with regard to their foods. The Indian version is more or less similar to the normal GM Diet plan, with the only exception found in Day 5 and Day 6.
Since the GM Diet Indian version discourages the consumption of beef, which appears on the normal diet plan on Day 5 and 6, alternatives have to be sought. Cottage cheese is one of the most beloved meals amongst Indians who desire to find substitutes for meats. Other food types that are great replacements for meats include bean sprouts, spinach, tofu, soybean curd, low fat Paneer, and red kidney beans. Any food that has a rich content of proteins and iron would be an excellent substitute for beef. Although the Indian version has several similarities with the original GM Diet plan, it also has a number of differences as shown below.
Day 1
Just as it is the case with the normal GM Diet plan, the intake of fruits is highly advisable on the first day. Just as it is the case with the main plan, the intake of bananas is prohibited in the Indian version. Throughout the first day, take between 10 and 12 glasses of water with the fruits.
Day 2
On the second day, take nothing other than vegetables. All types of vegetables are eatable on this day. For breakfast, take enough potatoes as a way of boosting the energy levels. For lunch and supper, let the diet be a mixture of boiled vegetables and greens.
Day 3
On the third day, mix some vegetables and fruits. A proper intake of water is also highly advisable. An intake of between 10 and 12 glasses of water would be very beneficial. However, avoid taking potatoes and bananas on the third day.
Day 4
The fourth day is all about milk and bananas. For breakfast, take some bananas and skim milk. Bananas and skim milk would also suffice for midday snacks. For lunch and dinner, wonder soup would be fine. For the strict Indians, substituting yogurt for skim milk is a great idea.
Day 5
The fifth day is great for some curd, tomatoes and brown rice. This is where the Indian version differs from the normal diet plan in that it does not feature the intake of beef. Soy bean curd, brown rice, and cheese are some of the substitutes for beef.
Day 6
On the sixth day, potatoes should not feature in the list of foods to be taken. This is a great day for vegetables and brown rice. Put some soy bean curd or cottage cheese in a vegetable bowl and enjoy a great meal.
Day 7
Finally, fruits, vegetables and brown rice would suffice for the seventh day of GM Diet plan. Take as many fruits and vegetable servings as possible. For liquid, the options are between fruit juices and water. An intake of 8 to 10 glasses of water would be great.
The GM Diet plan is designed to last seven days. Each day has its own types of meals that must be taken. Adhering to the diet plan set aside for Day 1 is very important. The first day might be the hardest for many people. Most of the foods that feature on this diet plan are rich in fiber but deficient in fat, proteins and carbohydrates. If done correctly, a single week of proper dieting could lead to the loss of up to 10lbs. On the first day, the foods eaten should only feature fruits. The fruits chosen for the first day should be those that contain no potassium, starch or carbohydrates. This automatically means that bananas should not feature on the list of fruits.
The first day is all about detoxifying the body, thus the reason for omitting bananas from the list of fruits worth eating on Day 1. Preparing the body for the week of following the GM Diet plan is highly recommended. A day before commencing the program, eat enough starchy foods. A day before the first day of the diet program, take enough bananas, oats and potatoes as a way of stocking up on sufficient amounts of energy that would last the entire morning of Day 1. Take enough amounts of water as a way of ensuring that the body does not experience the negative effects of dehydration.
Failure to prepare the body through regular warm-up exercises would have devastating results. Warm-up exercises are very effective in terms of maintenance of the normal metabolic processes. Warm-up exercises ensure that the possibility of suffering fatigue is eliminated. It is worth noting that exercises also ensure that the body’s resilience towards the side effects produced by the diet plan. Warm-up exercises are also highly effective in terms of increased detoxification. The weight loss results would also suffer greatly in the absence of the regular warm-up exercises.
Breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal during the first day of the diet plan. Breakfast that includes some papaya and watermelons would be sufficient for the first day. Take these fruits with some water, where a glass or two would suffice. Watermelons and papaya make one full. Watermelons and papaya are pleasant to taste. An intake of these fruits would eliminate the craving for foods such as pasta and pizza, which would ordinarily negate the weight loss results.
Lunch
Watermelons and apples are excellent for lunch. Any type of watery fruit would be fine for lunch. Lunch should last from 12noon to around 1.30pm. People who want a full stomach should consider taking a bowl of apples. Alternatively, a couple of cups of watermelons would also leave the stomach feeling full. Mangoes and kiwis would also be excellent choices.
Dinner
Dinner that comprises oranges, kiwis and melons is highly advisable. Accompany these with some one to two glasses of water. To avoid having a cramped stomach late in the night, take a half-a-bowl of the melons. This is because of the fact that the melons lead to a full stomach much faster, which would result into cramping. For those who love beverages, water would suffice in Day 1. Coconut water and fresh orange juice would be excellent for midday snacks.
The second day is for vegetables. Here, there is no limit regarding the types of vegetables to be eaten. The consumption of vegetables ensures that the body receives the proper amount of fiber that it needs. Vegetables are also good for the regulation of sugar content within the body. The second day has its own restrictions, just as the first day did. Starchy crops and green leafy vegetables feature on the second day. The consumption of vegetables is good in many ways as stated above, including the fact that it is beneficial to the metabolic process.
Preparation is also very important on Day 2. However, where it differs from Day 1 is the fact that it does not make people feel lightheaded. The foods taken on the second day are easy to digest. This means that the gastrointestinal tract does not have to deal with too much pressure, which is a common trait when it has to try digesting hard-to-digest foods. Before embarking on the diet for the second day, take enough heavy fruits the previous night. Drink not less than 10 glasses of water on the first day, and the good effects shall roll over to the second day.
The consumption of potatoes and other starchy meals is not prohibited on Day 2. Consuming foods that have a high content of starch releases more energy that lasts the entire day. The intake of potatoes and other starchy meals as a way of preparing for Day 2 ensures that one is able to do a number of very strenuous activities with minimum difficulty. Since exercises are important for the success of a GM Diet plan, the consumption of starchy meals ensures that one can handle the workouts with little difficulty.
Breakfast
For breakfast, consider eating a huge baked potato. Apply some pat of butter on the potato before eating. Ensure that the stomach is full as a way of increasing the energy levels for what might be a very tough day. For people within the tropical countries, replacing the regular potatoes with some sweet potatoes or cassavas would be fine. However, more than anything else, avoid using sugar when taking breakfast.
Lunch
At lunch, consume light foods. Avoid heavy foods as much as possible. Some of the light foods that would suffice for lunch include cabbages, cucumber, and lettuce. All types of vegetable salads would be excellent for lunch. Dress the salads with olive oil or vinaigrette. However, try avoiding the use of mayonnaise as much as possible when dressing the vegetable salads to be taken during lunchtime.
Dinner
Fresh greens are the best for dinner on the second day. Here, cucumber, lettuce, cabbages, asparagus, and broccoli would be the best choices. For people who desire to try something different, boiled beets would also be just as effective for dinner. Any person who does not desire to have a full stomach at dinner should avoid the boiled beets. For snacks and beverages, consider fresh lettuce or boiled cabbages, or any other type of a leafy vegetable.
People who go through Day 1 and Day 2 successfully have little to worry about Day 3. By the third day, the situation should be much easier to handle than the previous two days. Whereas Day 1 restricted people to fruits and Day 2 to vegetables, the GM Diet plan for Day 3 allows followers to combine the two. What this means is that the diet for Day 3 contains both fruits and vegetables. However, it is important to realize bananas are still prohibited on the third day. The diet plan for the third day might be a bit challenging to people who already adjusted their intake to fruits and vegetables on the first and second day respectively.
The positive effects of the GM Diet plan would never materialize unless fresh fruits and vegetables are used. Fresh produce contains enough nutritional value, more than any person can ever hope to get through stale fruits or vegetables. Although organic harvests might be costlier, they are good alternatives. Organic harvests are also not as rich in tastes as the fresh produce. When it comes to preparation, Day 1 and Day 2 are more intense than Day 3. The ease of preparing is mainly because the body has already made the necessary adjustments due to the intake of fruits and vegetables during the first 2 days.
During the third day, consume a wide variety of vegetables and fruits. Each meal of the day, from breakfast all the way to dinner, should contain various vegetables and fruits. In the morning of the third day, take some time to perform a few breathing exercises. This is very effective as it helps to get rid of the tensions that arose from the first couple of days. The breathing exercises are also good because they allow for increased relaxation. By the third day, especially if one followed the GM Diet plan as he should, there should have been a loss in weight of between 2lbs and 4lbs.
Breakfast
Start the day with an apple. This is for any person who needs a light breakfast. However, for people in need of a full stomach and more energy, breakfast should comprise a few servings of watermelons. Do not eat the melons alone, but supplement them with some 2 glasses of water as a way of improving digestion.
Lunch
Just as in Day 2, consume some light foods. Prepare some salads mainly comprising lettuce and cucumber. Add some tomatoes to the salads. Dress the salads in some vinaigrette and olive oil.
Dinner
Boiled vegetables are great for dinner on Day 3. Follow these up with some fruit desserts, which would be perfect if restricted to watermelons alone. Consuming a healthy combination of various fruits, fresh greens and tomatoes throughout the day would be a very good option for midday snacks. Make fresh juices from lemons, oranges, and berries and take them as midday snacks. Fresh juices are excellent, but avoid overconsumption as this could lead to bloating. However, avoid taking fruit juices at this early stage.
Finally, the consumption of bananas is permissible. By the fourth day, the body has adjusted to the GM Diet plan. The body has already undergone proper cleansing, thus making it permissible to consume some bananas. The fruits and vegetables eaten in the first 3 days have provided the body with all the fiber and sugar that it needs. The main diet on the fourth day is one that comprises milk and bananas, which are very good at adding the sodium and potassium that the body has lacked during the first few days of following the diet plan. By Day 4, the body obtains the much-needed energy from the intake of milkshakes and bananas.
By the fourth day, the body has a sustained appetite. This means that it does not respond to the taste of bananas, thus making it easier to survive on nothing other than liquids. At this stage, the body already boasts of all the energy it needs for an entire day. People who get to the fourth day develop a positive attitude to life. They feel more active and livelier in whatever they choose to do. On the fourth day, the body contains a high amount of sweets obtained from the fruits that have been eaten in the past three days. By the fourth day, it is much easier to rely solely on the liquids such as vegetable soup and milkshakes for energy.
Preparing for the fourth day of GM Diet plan is very important. As a way of preparing for the meals set aside for Day 4, exercise properly. Do not be afraid to take part in various physical activities, no matter how strenuous they seem. The previous diet plans for the last three days make it possible for participation in physical activities. Working out would not have a detrimental effect on the body. Going out for some leisurely activities would also be fine. It is usual to feel much different by the fourth day. It is not strange to see somebody who is full of life and vitality by the fourth day.
Breakfast
To start the fourth day, take breakfast that comprises of some warm milk and bananas. A single banana would do, accompanied by one glass of warm milk. Many people are very creative and prefer slicing a few bananas into a bowl of warm milk. By the fourth day, do not be afraid to consume skim milk throughout the day. Full milk might be too heavy on the stomach.
Lunch
Vegetable soup is sufficient for lunch on the fourth day. Mix some spices and herbs with the vegetable soup. The cabbage stew and tomato soup are just but two of the best vegetable soups that any person following the GM Diet plan can follow up during lunchtime. This is because the two are full of natural flavors that the taste buds would find very appealing.
Dinner
For dinner, take some banana shake and vegetable soup. At night, especially later in the night, the body might struggle to handle the mix of vegetable soup and banana shake. Therefore, consider removing the shake from dinner. The vegetable soup is sufficient in keeping the stomach full until the following morning.
For those who love midday snacks, bananas and milkshakes would be a fine choice. Serve the milkshakes or banana shakes cold, although this might depend on the prevailing weather. The midday snacks are naturally tasty and very popular as part of conventional beverages.
The highlight of day 5 is that everybody can now eat beef and tomatoes. The diet plan for Day 5 is set to improve the amount of proteins within the body. However, avoid consuming fat at all costs. The temptation to take some fat would be too much to bear, especially after consuming some meat. Therefore, choose non-fatty meat. The main reason for using beef is that it contains rich amounts of proteins and fibers. When consuming the beef, limit the amount. Do not eat too much simply to satisfy the cravings. The omissions from the diet in all the previous days are permissible in days 4 and 5.
Preparation is equally important in Day 5, just as it is in all the previous days. Without proper preparation, it would be impossible to follow the GM Diet plan to the latter. By the fifth day, do not be surprised to keep feeling a loss of appetite. By Day 5, it would be possible to get by on minimal portions of food. Some people are able to get by with the minimal amounts of beef. They no longer consume large portions as they used to before embracing the GM Diet plan. Due to the prevailing lack of appetite for a wide range of foods, consume a small portion of beef. Large servings would only worsen the appetite.
The prevailing lack of appetite for a wide range of food types is likely to continue for several more days. However, it is important to find ways in which to keep the taste buds alive, especially on the fifth day. This is why tomatoes are permissible by the fifth day. Tomatoes are excellent in terms of restoring life to the taste buds, which have become dull following the first 4 days of adhering to the GM Diet plan. The loss of appetite starts from the second day, and does not stop when somebody gets to Day 5. The loss of appetite is to be welcomed with open arms as it helps to cut all excess weight.
Breakfast
An intake of tomato soup and braised beef for breakfast would fill the stomach and leave one feeling energetic for the remainder of the day. The braised beef provides the body with not only proteins, but also fiber and iron. On the other hand, tomato soup provides the body with the energy it needs for the rest of the day.
Lunch
For lunch, look for some tomatoes and mix them with hamburger before eating. Baking the hamburger is fine, but do not bake it in too much fat. Frying the hamburger is also fine, but only if the amount of fat is restricted. This is because the hamburger already contains enough fat of its own. Drink enough water as a way of flushing out the excess urine naturally.
Dinner
Eating an extra hamburger for dinner would be a good way to end Day 5. However, some experts believe that an intake of tomatoes and beef soup would be a fine way of adding some energy to the body in preparation for the following day. Soup is also very effective in supplementing any water that was lost during the course of the day.
Finally, avoid taking fruit juice or any other beverage on Day 5. The only permissible liquid or beverage for the fifth day is water. This is because water is very effective in flushing out any excesses that the body might still contain. Do not consider the intake of 14 glasses of water as being too excessive. The body needs all this water.
The special diet for Day 6 is enough to motivate any person to get to this stage of the GM Diet plan. Any person who gets to the sixth day has only one more day to worry about and many reasons for rejoicing. By this stage, every person who has followed the diet plan successfully for the last five days should be very near to the goal of losing around 10lbs for the first week. The sixth day accords people with the opportunity of consuming as much beef and vegetables as they want. This is why the sixth day is also the feast day. At this stage of following the diet plan, the body is jut about to start regaining its lost appetite.
Preparing for the sixth day is very important. Preparation means getting the mental and physical aspects of the body ready for the entire day. Deliberate preparation is one of the reasons behind the effectiveness of the GM Diet plan. The ever-increasing metabolic processes make the body able to keep losing all the extra weight. At this stage, consuming some fiber and proteins would be what the body needs for weight loss. Fiber is obtainable from vegetables. Proteins, fiber and iron are all obtainable from meat. Pushing the body into physical exercises and activities would also help prepare it for the sixth day of GM Diet plan.
Breakfast
Take some mixed vegetables for breakfast. Stewing or sautéing the mixed vegetable is a matter of personal preference. Stewing or sautéing the vegetables ensure that they are tender to taste and bite. A bowl of the stewed or sautéed vegetables is adequate for breakfast. Look for some beef cutlets and take them together with the stewed or sautéed vegetables for optimal results, and as a way of satiating the stomach for the rest of the day.
Lunch
Any mixture of vegetables and meat would suffice for lunch on the sixth day of GM Diet program. Any meal for lunch should be prepared Asian-style. This is because Asian-styled cooking is perfect for beef and vegetables. For Westerners, beef with some broccoli would be an excellent choice for lunch. Despite the strong temptation to take all these with some bread or potatoes, do not give in lest the goal of GM Diet program becomes impossible to achieve.
Dinner
The best meal for Day 6 dinner is hamburger taken with some vegetable soup. Once again, do not take this with bread. Avoid bread and potatoes. Hamburger with vegetable soup would be perfect for somebody who has gone through a very tiresome day. Vegetable soup is the best at replenishing the lost energy and lighting up all the dulled senses. Consuming the beef ensures that the body is able to regain the fiber, iron, and proteins that it lost.
Vegetables and beef would be an excellent choice for any person who desires to enjoy a few midday snacks on the sixth day. The mid-mornings and early afternoons are the best times for taking the vegetables. This ensures that the appetite remains at containable levels, which would be great for losing all the excess weight.
This is the last day of the first week. Any person who gets to this stage should have lost a significant amount of all the excess weight. By the seventh day, the average loss of weight should be 10 pounds, which is equivalent to between 2kgs and 4kgs. Any person who gets to this stage should be enjoying better quality of sleep every day. Digestion also improves by Day 7. The skin glows more by this stage of GM Diet plan. Any individual who follows the diet program to the seventh day is able to notice a huge improvement in terms of energy levels and physical activities in which he can participate. Unlike Day 6, beef is eliminated from the diet on Day 7, and replaced with brown rice.
It is important to note that Day 7 requires the return to the fruits and vegetables that were prominent during the first 3 days. It is much easier to take fruits and vegetables on the seventh day more than was the case during the first 3 days. The body has now developed significant changes. The body is now much slimmer and in better physical condition than ever before. Preparation should never be downplayed. By the seventh day of following a GM Diet program, try restocking on fresh fruits and vegetables. The consumption of fruits takes place throughout the day. Fruits are taken for breakfast, lunch, dinner and during the midday snacks.
Breakfast
Eating brown rice for breakfast on Day 7 is highly advisable. Any person who needs a good amount of carbohydrates and energy in his body should consume enough brown rice in the morning. The consumption of brown rice in the morning as part of breakfast ensures that carbohydrates and energy levels shall not dissipate for the remainder of the day. However, any person who does not feel attracted to the brown rice for breakfast has the option of settling for a slice of watermelon or papaya, taken with some one or two glasses of water.
Lunch
At lunchtime, cook some vegetables and take them with grown rice. Asparagus, broccoli and cabbages are the perfect vegetables for cooking at lunchtime as part of the GM Diet program for Day 7. However, many people consider such a meal very boring. To make the meal more interesting, introduce a few slices of watermelons or mangoes. This has the twin effect of making the meal fun, and bringing a lot of satisfaction and increased energy levels for the remainder of the day.
Dinner
For the last dinner of the last day of the GM Diet program, consider some brown rice and bowl of vegetables. However, overconsumption of brown rice would lead to a lot of bloating. Therefore, consider removing the brown rice from the diet plan and taking vegetables only. Since brown rice could be too heavy for dinner, take it all down with some water. For the last day of the program, consider taking fruits alone for midday snacks. Raisins are perfect as mid-morning snacks. Strawberries are perfect snacks for the afternoons, and for eating as after dinner snacks.
