Project objectives:

  • increase student motivation and consequently success in learning through the application of game design.

  • personalize learning and engage students

  • prevent educational failure and drop-out

  • develop a framework based on game design applicable to lesson and curriculum planning .

At the end of the project we expect

  • to have collected a sufficient number of self-produced support documents (worksheets, assessment grid, lesson ideas) covering also different subject areas to publish in an ebook.

  • to attract the attention of other educators interested in the topic and form a community of educators for gameful learning in Europe.

  • to engage more particularly students not very interested in school, with poor school result and needing integration in the local community.

  • to publish the games developped by students within the project.

Project outcomes

Action research

The project is carried out in the form of an action-research which proceeds cyclically.

Teachers have meetings to identify weaknesses in their teaching practice. They share and develop their knowledge on the topic, plan activities and prepare the needed material. They identify possible solutions to solve their problems and test them in their classroom. One of the solutions to the problem of student lack of interest in learning we have identified is game design. Therefore teachers inthe project will guide the students in the creation video games, stimulating collaboration and reflection online with their peers through eTwinning project platform. Teachers shall collect observations both while implementing game design intheir classrooms and during the in-presence meetings of students.
