GEG On Air 31

Last session from the 2020 season!

To end the year learning great tips from the Google Educators Group community, GEG On Air #31 brought to the discussion extensions that can be used by teachers to support students' engagement and leverage it to the next level. Roberta Taffarello (GEG Vinhedo Leader and Google Certified Educator 1 and 2), Júlio César Passos (GEG Indaiatuba Leader and Google Trainer), Camila Schwarzer (GEG Porto Leader União and Google Trainer) and Júlio Santos (GEG Natal Leader and Google Certified Educator 1 and 2) shared amazing ideas using Pear Deck (for Students Feedbacks about classes), Poll Everywhere (for strategic interactions), Breakout Rooms (for group working) and Nearpod (for active engagement during synchronous activities).

Special thanks to all educators that shared their ideas, and also to the ones who worked on the consolidated document for this session: Auderlania Dias (GEG Lavras da Mangabeira Leader), Clérice Moura (GEG Santa Maria do Herval Leader) and Aellanene L. R. Guimarães (GEG Conselheiro Lafaiete Leader).

GEG South Texas Town Hall

On December 16, 2020 The Google Educator Group of South Texas (GEG-SOUTX) had its first Town Hall. The goal was to have our Group members collaborate in a meeting where we discussed Google products. The meeting was recorded to help the Google Product Team learn more about how educators are using Google products. A big thanks to the GEG-SOUTX members and Google Team members for joining in. Another big thanks to Maggie Ojeda, GEG-SOUTX Captain, for organising the event with May Jue. In the end, Carlos Garza, GEG-SOUTX Leader, gave away a Stadia Premier Edition kit for one lucky member, along with a month of Stadia Pro for those who joined the meeting.

Celebra GEG

Our GEG Mentors prepared a few tips to inspire all of us - to celebrate what we have learned, achieved and evolved during a challenging year. The tips include preparing a year in review (to highlight best moments that can motivate new initiatives) until creating GEG Talks (to incentivize members to present their stories of transformation and impact). Google Meet Quick Access update

Meeting organizers in G Suite for Education and Enterprise for Education domains can now turn Quick access on or off for a meeting from the event in Google Calendar. The Quick access setting helps organizers control if participants must ask to join the video meeting. By adding controls to calendar events, organizers can configure the setting appropriately in advance of the meeting. Previously, the setting could only be controlled via the Host controls menu during the meeting.

The Quick access setting is also now “sticky” for recurring meetings. That means that if you change the setting—either before the meeting via Google Calendar or during the meeting via in-call settings—it will be saved for any future meetings that use the same meeting code.
