"This course draws on the fields of learning theory, developmental psychology, and measurement to focus on the tasks of constructing instructional materials. Areas to be considered include behaviour analysis, concept formation, and test construction."

This course provides an in-depth exploration of instructional design principles, models, and practices specifically tailored for educators. Students will learn to create effective instructional materials and experiences, leveraging various design theories and technologies. The course includes hands-on projects, case studies, and collaborative activities to apply instructional design concepts in educational and work place contexts.

Typical weekly schedule:
6:05-6:15: Observations from previous class; introduction of weekly theme & hands-on activities
6:15-6:50: Group discussion and reflections on readings
6:50-7:50: Main topic for the week
7:50-8:40: Hands-on activities and lab
8:40-8:55: Wrap up
We typically don’t take a 15 - 20 min. health break ~ so we usually finish around 8:35
We will decide this in the first class
We are using the Cammy Bean and David Hodell books. The books are industry standards. The Carr-Chellman text will be available as an optional read for interested classroom teachers.
The chapter readings will be posted on Perusall but accessed through MyCourses LMS.
The Quebec Digital Action Plan: Guide & Overview. will also used at selected times throughout the semester alongside the ISTE student and teacher standards.
