Sometimes it Just Isn't About You
Somtimes Misery Has A purposeA true story
We have all had times when things don’t seem to be going well. In spite of putting forth the best effort, it just isn’t working. It seems like everything is against you. You might even find yourself in a situation where it seems there is no way out and you want to throw up your hands and say, “Why me?”
If that is you, and you didn’t cause things to go bad by your own bad choices, why is it happening? Most of us might think it’s just the result of chance or perhaps simply fate…… “Shit happens, ” as they say. Sometimes that’s true I suppose, but there are other times when it isn’t.
It’s those “other times,” that if not just the result of bad luck, then it must be something that is orchestrated or directed somehow. If you consider that a possibility, then what is the purpose?
This book is about one of the times in my life when I was in a situation, seemingly by fate that was nearly intolerable. I was in the navy. The times were rough then and while it was happening, the thought never entered my mind that there might be a purpose to it, not until a few years later when things had dramatically improved, more so than good luck could account for. Looking back, it wasn’t about me. Looking back, there was a purpose to it. Looking back, I was protected and rewarded when the purpose was accomplished.
If you find yourself spinning in the whirlpool of life and you just want to throw up your hands and say, “Why me?” Maybe it’s not about you. Maybe you just need to stick it out. Maybe you are teaching someone else something that only you can teach them. Or maybe someone cares about you enough to want to teach you something.
