LFA to bring new installations & events to Edgware

The London Festival of Architecture (LFA) has partnered with Barnet Council for the first time, for a programme of events celebrating architecture and citymaking. As part of this years festival, there will be six events in Edgware - here's a quick look at them:
Let's meet on the Edge
15th June - 13th July on Station Road
‘Let’s Meet on the Edge’ is composed of a series of creative installations, starting at Station Road and reaching up to the High Streets that will provide residents and visitors to Edgware with an alternative map to Edgware for the Festival, highlighting local histories which have been lost in urban development and disconnected green spaces.
Three installations will be put up, selected as the winning designs from the LFA competition 'More Edgware, Less Anywhere'. Below you can see two of the designs.

North to Edgware!
8th June 2023, 18:00 -19:30 at Edgware Library
A short film about the Northern Line's Golders Green, Hendon, and finally Edgware extensions, using old maps, railway plans, photographs, and posters to tell the story of how this railway shaped this part of London. Followed by a Q&A session with The London Borough Barnet’s Heritage Officer, Hugh Petrie.

Walk the Heights of London's Underground
4th June, 10:30 from Edgware Tube Station
A 9.5km (6 miles) walk from Edgware Station to Finchley Church End Library. Including disused railway lines and footpaths along the route of what was previously the Northern Heights Railway, the walk is led by Hugh Petrie, Heritage Development Officer for London Borough of Barnet, who will be telling the history of the railway and surrounding architecture.

Almshouses: Past, present and future of social housing?
24th June, 10:00 - 14:00
The project will take people on a guided journey through 4 sites in Edgware, including the refurbished Day’s site and regenerated Atkinsons’ site. A plenary session with refreshments will allow representatives of the development teams including architects and trustees (also local councillors) to explore the underlying concepts and practical application as well as for beneficiaries of the charity to tell their own stories.

Build Up Stonegrove, the exhibition
26th - 30th June, 09:00 - 19:00 at OneStonegrove
This week-long event will display the results of an innovative youth-led co-design project, and is your chance to view the plans that for redevloping the spaces outside the OneStonegrove centre.

Walk North to Edgware!
10th June, 10:30 at Edgware Library
A 7km (5 mile) walk from Edgware Library to Colindale Library through Art Deco Edgware, the Watling Estate and Booth Road estate, along the line of the 100 year old Edgware Branch of the Northern Line. Led by Hugh Petrie, Heritage Development Officer for London Borough of Barnet, who will be telling the history of the railway and surrounding architecture.
