Edgware in 2023

31st December 2022

This June we launched our Future Edgware project as local regeneration plans are underway. As 2022 has drawn to a close it's all gone a bit quiet. But we're still here! And to see out the year, here's a look at what may be in store for Edgware in 2023...

1.

Local Plan review

Over the autumn an independent planning inspectorate reviewed Barnet's Local Plan. The Inspector-led consultation is now expected to follow in February 2023.

The latest from Edgware was a request for 1) more homes

And 2) greater flexibility on the height of buildings, including the introduction of 'Very Tall'...

The inspectorates response next spring will have big implications for Edgware's town centre.

2.

See the new Edgware Central plans

Quite an exciting one. Next year we will (probably) see the plans for Edgware's regeneration, according to their (slightly behind) timeline.

3.

Five years of renovation (and neglect) for the Railway Hotel

This valued local landmark celebrates its fifth year of renovation in 2023 - or should that be neglect? Usually its both. Most recently, this summer, the owner was served an Urgent Works Notice and the building was fenced off. It is being offered 'to let' again. The building works have become questionably slow and half-finished. Will 2023 be any different?

4.

Edgware Parade unmasked?

For a couple of years Station Road has been overlooked by cranes and a huge scaffolding. This is for the new Edgware Parade development, which includes *that* 17-storey tower block. After the construction company went into administration, work resumed this year. It looks likely the new apartments will ready in 2023.

5.

More new homes

The Rectory Lane development, another one behind Station Road, could be finished in 2023. Work will also begin on Kenilworth Road (Broadfields) for 28 new homes in two blocks.

As usual, we will try to keep you in the know via our website and social media. Wishing all of you a very Happy New Year!
