People do not know where daemons come from. The word is used for shadows that crawl out of the broken reflections of the sacred mirror in Pteron.

Pteron is a reflection of the Nether, the place where all beings originate. Most people believe the dead go there, and that shadows are fragments of what they used to be. This often leads to hostile creatures leaking into Lepis.

Maius is one of them. They are a fallen weapon of war from before Eden. Currently, they are plotting against another fragment, trying to regain control over the land much like they once did in their former role. Their purpose is the same, but now it has been twisted. On their own, Maius is only a minor threat, but they quickly become far more dangerous because they can command others.

Maius thanks the one who broke the mirror.

That person was a puppet of their former ruler.

However, this was a private conversation, and it only happened because the ruler was actively using that puppet at the time.
