An angle is formed when two or more rays meet at the same endpoint, just like the long hand and short hand of a clock.
Ray EF and Ray ED both meet at point E. Point E is the endpoint that they both share. This common endpoint is also called a vertex.
The space between both rays is the amount of turn one ray takes while moving away from the other. This amount of turn is measured in degrees.
When naming an angle, all three points are used but the vertex must be in the middle. The shape above is Angle DEF or Angle FED. Notice that the E is in the middle. Instead of writing the word angle, we can use the ∠ symbol for short.
