Reusable Bag Reminder - Privacy Policy

Reusable Bag Reminder is a location-based reminder app that helps you remember to bring your reusable bags when shopping, and to put your bags back in your car for use on your next shopping trip.
Location Information
What: Your current location (latitude and longitude)
When: While the app is running and/or when background location is permitted (e.g., to support geofencing and home/store reminders)
Why: To detect when you enter or exit geofence areas for store reminders and home arrival alerts, and to support location-based features (such as map display and nearby store lookup)
Storage: We do not store continuous/raw location history on our own servers. Location data may be processed on your device and may be shared with third parties that provide required location/geofence and place lookup services (see “Third-Party Services” below).
User-Entered Data
What: Store locations, your home location, and app preferences (for example notification settings and geofence settings)
When: When you add stores, set your home location, or update settings
Why: To provide personalized reminders and store/home behavior according to your configuration
Storage: Stored locally on your device using Android SharedPreferences.
Store Visit Tracking
What: Timestamps of when you visit store geofences (store name and visit time), used to determine whether the home reminder should be shown
When: When the app detects store entry events and/or when it records store visits for reminder logic
Why: To decide whether to show a home reminder based on recent store activity, and to display visit-related information in the app
Storage / Retention: Stored locally on your device. The app keeps store visit records for the current month and the previous month (older entries are removed by the app).
Notification and Sound Preferences
What: Your choices for notification sounds and related notification preferences
When: When you configure settings in the app
Why: To customize how you receive reminders
Storage: Stored locally on your device.
We use the information we collect to:
Send you reminders when you arrive at stores
Send home arrival reminders so you can put your bags back in your car for use next shopping trip
Customize notification settings based on your preferences
Keep track of recent store visits (stored locally and retained as described above) to support home reminder logic
The app relies on third-party services to provide location and store lookup functionality:
Google Play Services (Location & Geofencing)
Purpose: Location services and geofencing processing
Data shared: Location information and geofence-related data as required for geofencing
Google Maps / Google Places (Maps and place lookup)
Purpose: Display maps and provide place details/search as used by the app
Data shared: Location and search/request information as required by Google’s APIs
OpenStreetMap Overpass API (Nearby store search)
Purpose: Look up nearby store candidates using map data
Data shared: The app sends a location-based query (including coordinates derived from your location) to the Overpass API
OpenStreetMap Nominatim (Reverse geocoding / address lookup)
Purpose: Convert coordinates into human-readable address details as a fallback
Data shared: The app sends coordinates (derived from your location) to Nominatim for address lookup
Local storage: Store and home locations and preferences are stored locally on your device.
No app server storage claimed: We do not operate our own servers for storing your location history.
Location sharing for features: Location data may be processed and/or transmitted to third-party services needed for geofencing and place lookup (Google Play Services, Google Maps/Places, Overpass API, and Nominatim).
Your control: You can disable geofences or revoke location permissions in your device settings to stop location-based reminders.
You have the right to:
Access: View what data is stored by checking the app’s stored data and files (including any locally stored logs created by the app).
Delete: Clear stored data by uninstalling the app.
Control: Disable geofencing at any time through the app settings and/or your device settings.
Opt-out: Stop location tracking by disabling geofences in the app and/or revoking location permissions.
This app is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Location data: Used for real-time reminders and location-based functions; not stored as a continuous/raw location history by the app on its own servers. Location data may be processed by third-party location services as required.
Store and Home locations: Stored locally until you manually delete them (or uninstall the app).
Store visit tracking (for home reminder logic): Kept locally for current month + previous month.
CSV log file (geofence activity): The app may maintain a locally stored CSV log file for geofence-related activity. The file is reset when it reaches a size limit (e.g., 50MB). For displaying visit statistics, the app may read and compute values from up to the last year of entries in that CSV log (as part of its local calculations).
You can delete all stored data at any time by:
Removing stores in the app
Clearing your home location in the app
Uninstalling the app (this permanently removes the stored data)
This app may request:
Foreground location: To show your current location on the map and support location-based features
Background location: To detect when you enter/exit geofence areas when the app is closed
Disabling these permissions will prevent reminders from working properly.
