Goal: Reduce idle and background battery use, turn on Low Power Mode automatically.
Settings Guide:
Open Settings
Tap Display & Brightness, set Auto-Lock to 30 seconds or 1 minute
Go to Settings, Battery, turn on Low Power Mode when you need extra savings
In Settings, Background App Refresh, turn off for heavy apps you do not need running
Optional automation using Shortcuts, step by step:
Open Shortcuts app
Tap Automation at bottom
Tap + then Create Personal Automation
Choose “Time of Day” or “When Battery Level” (example: When Battery Level is 100% to 90% is not useful, pick Battery Level 20% to toggle off, instead choose Time of Day or Leave/Arrive)
Tap Add Action, search for “Set Low Power Mode”, select it
Set it to “Turn On”
Turn off “Ask Before Running” if iOS allows it, confirm
Save
Notes: Shortcuts can toggle Low Power Mode automatically. Auto-Lock cannot be changed by Shortcuts, so include Auto-Lock in the manual steps.
Estimated wattage reduction: About 1.5 W are reduced in idle when Low Power Mode and Auto-Lock are tightened
