When I try to use the "Open call hierarchy" function in Eclipse, all of sudden it has stopped working. I don't get any results, it just shows the name of the method I wanted to see the call hierarchy for. This happens for all methods I try, even though they are all called by other methods.

Maybe you have a search scope issue. I faced this issue, my eclipse coul'nt find any callers in third projects that uses the method i selected (i also tryed to remove the indexes, restart eclipse, close/open projects, and that was'nt enough so far). I Eventually realized the caller search has a "Search Scope" , that can be set to current workspace/current Project/working set. The item "search scope" is in the "call hierarchy" window menu, opened by top-right arrow. I set it to "current workspace" and then it was ok

"Find references" shows you all direct callers of the selected method. "Call hierarchy" in contrast shows also the callers of those direct callers, and the callers of those, ... and so on.

If you wonder why there are two such features, if "Find references" is basically just a subset of the "Call hierarchy": Find references works really fast, so you can use it all the time without any waiting for results. The call hierarchy on the other hand takes more computation time and therefore may interrupt your coding workflow.

What should I do, if the "Open Call Hierarchy" is broken (empty for every method in a project)? It only shows the name of the method I wanted to see the call hierarchy for. This happens for all methods I try, even though they are all called by other methods.

In my case I was trying to get the call hierarchy of a method in the derived class of an abstract class. The requested method was declared abstract in the base class. When I opened the call hierarchy directly on the abstract method instead of the implemented one, everything worked well. (Eclipse Neon).

Software being installed: CallGraph Viewer 0.9.4.201401211240 (net.certiv.callgraph.feature.feature.group 0.9.4.201401211240)

Missing requirement: CallGraph Viewer 0.9.4.201401211240 (net.certiv.callgraph.feature.feature.group 0.9.4.201401211240) requires 'org.eclipse.jdt.core 3.9.0' but it could not be found

The Type Hierarchy view now supports filtering by a working set. Once a working set is selected in the view menu, the hierarchy view only shows Java types contained in the given working set, extended by parent types needed to complete the tree (the latter are shown with white-filled images).

Welcome! I concur with the other poster. VSCode is a really nice IDE for Julia. As far as I can tell, there is no call hierarchy feature, but it does have many features like ctrl+click to go to definition, autocomplete, integrated documentation etc.

It is important to note that the language-server (for your specific language) needs to support the protocol from the LSP to actually get callhierarchy and typehierarchy support. In the case of TypeScript, typescript-language-server does not implement typehierarchy.

The Callee Hierarchy Strategy shows method calls in the selected function or task. You can expand nodes in the tree to further inspect the hierarchy.

These operations as discussed in tutorial Eclipse and development tips and are quickly found in the context menu of the Eclipse editor, or by using keyboard shortcuts. Open declaration brings you to the class or variable that you highlight in the editor. If you see a class being used, but do not have a good comprehension of what the class is, a quick look at the class may provide the understanding required to understand an algorithm using it. The type hierarchy gives you a tree of class inheritance. This is a good tool to understand what a class is based on. And for example whether there is an abstract layer performing parts of the functionality. Finally the call hierarchy helps in understanding how classes interact. It can for example tell you whether a certain method is or is not used by GTUs, or by lane-based objects, etc.

Eclipse is the integrated development environment (IDE) recommended forScipion. The features include: support for project creation and managedbuild, standard make build, source navigation, various source knowledgetools, such as type hierarchy, call graph, include browser, macrodefinition browser, code editor with syntax highlighting, folding andhyperlink navigation, source code refactoring and code generation. be457b7860
