Alma normalization rules can make batch changes to MARC bibliographic records. You can add, remove, change and replace fields and subfields and also use conditions to specify when changes are made. You can apply norm rules to one record in Metadata Editor, run them as a job on a set of records and also apply them during a record import.

The context of this presentation is Alma in a collaborative network with a Network Zone. The presenter will discuss where to save and run norm rules (local or network) and how to modify local fields (09x, 59x, 69x, and 9xx with $9 local) in your Institution Zone as well as how to make batch changes to NZ records.

Primo VE normalization rules take MARC data from Alma bibliographic records for display and search in Primo. The presenter will discuss display norm rules which display Marc data in Primo as well as search norm rules which index MARC data for search in Primo. The presentation will include real-world examples for displaying the 588 source of description note and using a 9xx field for local collection titles in display and search.

Similar to Alma norm rules Primo VE norm rules can use conditions to specify how Marc data is displayed, indexed, and transformed in Primo. Even in a collaborative network with a Network Zone, Primo VE norm rules are configured locally at the institution zone level.

Letters are an important but often confusing part of Alma configurations. We all need to get emails out to our patrons for a variety of reasons, but how do you make your letters look and read the way you want them to? In this presentation, we will attempt to take some of the mystery out of working with Alma letters. We will start by discussing the basic components used in letter configurations followed up by walking through real-world examples of changes to letters requested by library faculty and staff at California State University San Marcos.
