Curso EASS-UCB

The EASS is a graduate-level course designed for architects and engineers who wish to work in the field of healthcare, including planning of the healthcare network, building planning and design, management of resources and technologies. The course provides a theoretical base, with concepts, regulations and tools that are put in practice in the design studio.

Since its start in 2007 the EASS has enjoyed a fruitful and strategic partnership with the Brazilian Association for the Development of the Hospital Building - ABDEH, an organization with national and international presence, the EASS provides its students with free or discounted access to several activities, such as study trips, exhibitions, technical visits, special lectures, congresses and seminars.

EASS's methodology mixes theoretical and practical activities, and several virtual activities using e-Learning platforms, such as Moodle and Google for Education. The are 6 disciplines, including two Design Studios, which are complementary and sequential, presenting the opportunity for the development of a basic proposal of a Medium-Sized Hospital, tailored to the real needs of a chosen location in Brazil, and thus presenting a real challenge for the students, who work in groups and individually in the Design Studio to design a full proposal for a Medium-Sized Hospital. Technical visits are used throughout the course, serving as an element to consolidate the theory.

The instructors of the EASS are among the best in their field, including PhD, MSc and Specialists of different areas, such a Public Health, Management and Organization of Healthcare Facilities, Clinical Engineering and Architecture, with proven experience both in the private and in the public sectors.
