DWG import: Ease allows importing 3D models, or 2D parts of the room, in DWG format. These can be complete rooms or just the basis for drawing a room in Ease. Ease supports various types of geometrical entities, such as 3D Polylines, 3D Faces, Polyface Meshes, 2D Polylines, LW Polylines, Arcs, Circles, and Ellipses. Ease also supports importing of layers or tags for project organization, acoustic material, creation of audience areas and reflectors or parapets. Ease has geometrical analysis tools to ensure model consistency, such as inserting faces in holes and inverting wrongly oriented faces to establish a model suitable for acoustic simulation.
Image modeling based on drawings: For many projects, only section plans are available for 3D room modeling. In Ease, floor plans, front and section views can be loaded as graphics files and used as a reference for drawing the room model. Ease can load various image file formats, such as JPG or PNG. Ease can adjust orientation according to section plane, scale drawings based on known dimensions, position drawings in the 3D coordinate system as a reference for entering the room coordinates, use projection functions and constraints to derive coordinates from the drawings interactively while entering surfaces, placing loudspeakers, and defining receivers, and hide or delete drawings after the room building is complete.
Import and export of EASE 4 projects: Ease allows importing and exporting EASE 4 project files in FRD format. This makes it easier to get started in Ease by loading existing projects created in EASE 4.4, as well as exchanging EASE data with 3rd parties who are still using EASE 4.4. Since the two software tools are conceptionally different, there are some limitations with respect to the compatibility between them. For example, EASE 4 SPK speaker models are not supported and some loudspeaker filters settings are not maintained when importing to Ease.
Loudspeaker database: Ease has access to the largest and highest quality loudspeaker database to find the optimal solution for any project. The database contains over 3000 loudspeaker models from more than 200 manufacturers. The database is constantly updated with new models and verified by AFMG's measurement team.
Acoustic simulation: Ease can perform various types of acoustic simulations, such as direct sound coverage mapping, reverberation time calculation, speech intelligibility prediction (STI), impulse response measurement and analysis (EARS module), sound pressure level distribution (AURA module), etc. Ease can also generate realistic auralizations of the simulated sound fields using convolution with measured or synthetic impulse responses.
Client presentation: Ease can create informative and engaging client presentations using various output formats, such as graphs, tables, maps, images, videos, etc. Ease can also export the results to other applications, such as Microsoft PowerPoint or Excel.
Benefits of using Ease
Using Ease for acoustic modeling has several benefits for system designers and consultants. Some of these benefits are:
Convince customers with calculations by the industry standard electro-acoustical simulation software: Ease is widely recognized and accepted as the industry standard for electro- and room acoustic simulation. Using Ease can help system designers and consultants to demonstrate their expertise and professionalism to their customers by providing accurate and reliable calculations that meet the requirements for SPL, STI and other demands with minimum effort.
Become aware of obstacles that would remain hidden without simulation: Ease can help system designers and consultants to analyze and solve acoustical problems before they arise. Ease can reveal potential issues that would otherwise be overlooked or discovered too late, such as reflections, echoes, comb filtering, interference, noise, etc. Ease can also help to optimize the placement and orientation of loudspeakers, receivers, and acoustic treatments to achieve the best possible sound quality and coverage.
Save time and money by avoiding multiple iterations on site: Ease can help system designers and consultants to reduce installation time and costs by avoiding multiple iterations on site. Ease can help to verify the design and performance of the system before it is installed, reducing the need for adjustments and corrections later. Ease can also help to compare different design options and scenarios in a virtual environment, saving time and resources that would otherwise be spent on physical testing.
Ease is a software suite that provides system designers and consultants with a set of tools for all aspects of professional practice, from detailed, realistic modeling and simulation of venue acoustics and sound system performance to informative and engaging client presentations, as well as professional data assessment and verification. Ease is the established standard in electro- and room acoustic simulation worldwide. It can perform complex analysis in three-dimensional space. Ease has several features that make it a powerful and versatile tool for acoustic modeling, such as DWG import, image modeling based on drawings, import and export of EASE 4 projects, loudspeaker database, acoustic simulation, and client presentation. Using Ease for acoustic modeling has several benefits for system designers and consultants, such as convincing customers with calculations by the industry standard electro-acoustical simulation software, becoming aware of obstacles that would remain hidden without simulation, and saving time and money by avoiding multiple iterations on site.
