The object towards the top of this image which resembles a cosmic brain is the Crescent Nebula (also known as NGC 6888, Caldwell 27, Sharpless 105); an emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus, its about 5000 light-years away from Earth. It is formed by the fast stellar wind from the central Wolf-Rayet star WR 136 (HD 192163) colliding with and energizing the slower moving wind ejected by the star when it became a red giant around 250,000[ to 400,000 years ago. The result of the collision is a shell and two shock waves, one moving outward and one moving inward. Source and for more information: Wikipedia
Towards the bottom of the image is a faint blue area of nebulosity known as The Soap Bubble Nebula (also known as PN G075.5+01.7). This faint planetary nebula was only recently discovered by amateur astronomer Dave Jurasevich in 2007. The nebula derives its name from its symmetrical spherical shape which resembles a soap bubble.
