Biography 

Origin

 Hela is merely the latest incarnation in a series of Hels, all Death Queens charged with maintaining order in the lands of Hel, located beneath the kingdom of Niffleheim.

 Every Hel is a guided invocation, a facet of entropy that can only be manifested through the power of the Main Triad. In the past, it was Cul Borson who manifested his counterparts, but when he was banished and buried beneath the roots of Yggdrasil, his invocations also ceased, Odin then had to locate and form a new Mór Triad; through a pact with the powerful queen of the Norns, Karnilla, the sorceress was able to find the three emissaries who would possess the necessary arcane potential.

The Triad

 The Triad is a group of Asgardian sorceresses who typically manifest through the feminine and the sisterhood; they are central to Asgardian society and the key to keeping the kingdom safe.

 The first two children found were the arcane initiate Sygin and Amora, the daughter of farmers, but the third was difficult to locate, even though she possessed the most advanced arcane potential. This was because she was hiding in Jotunheim—just a baby named Loki—but she was the only child capable of giving Odin what he needed, so he took her for himself.

 The three grew up on Asgardian soil and were trained by the high priestess Frigga, who had ascended to the throne and taken on the role of mother to Odin’s first son, Thor—even though she had not given birth to him—and to Loki, whom Odin decided to raise as a son of the soul.

Creating Hela

Once his magic had reached maturity, Odin soon used Loki to guide the manifestations of entropy and the creation of beings that needed to exist for the sake of creation, even if their primary purpose was to bring about the end of existence in the eventual Ragnarok.

 Jörmungandr, Sleipnir, Fenrir, and then Hela—all named as children and of the same blood as that mere child. The Queen of Hel had already awakened in a form older than her father’s, and upon seeing his childlike face, she sensed that she would face him many more times to come.

Tales of Asgard

 As the ages passed, it was inevitable that Hela would become a part of her father’s life and a loyal confidante during his happiest and darkest moments; because he had offered her shelter since she was a mere child, Hela came to see her own creator as a son.

 She watched with sorrow as he discovered his origins and vowed to destroy his father’s empire, which he considered nothing more than cursed. He complained about being the liar in a world of lies, and for that reason, he alone would be able to see the truth.

 It wasn’t just once or twice that Hela helped carry out his plans to torment his uncle Thor; the warrior had been Odin’s noblest and most loyal ally—his representative on the battlefield—until one day, he ceased to be so, became as estranged as his brother, and returned to Midgard in self-imposed exile, which is why she may even have learned to see a little honor in Thor.

Loki's Plan

 With every passing second, it becomes clearer that Ragnarok is approaching, and it’s obvious that Loki would be the first to try to prevent his own end—something Hela cannot stop. She does not fear the end, since once the last Asgardian dies, there will be nothing left for her to resolve either. But it came as no surprise when Loki made her a proposal. Every father has the right to one final request of his son—a renunciation imposed on his deathbed that becomes universal law. Loki argued that, with Ragnarok approaching, this was already his deathbed—albeit slightly extended—and so he was already entitled to his request.
He wanted Hela to divide his soul into two bodies: one tied to his mortal anchor in Midgard—the body every Aesir needs to manifest on earth—and another tied to his Asgardian core, which would indeed perish with the arrival of Ragnarok, while the other would cheat death itself.

 Not knowing if the plan would actually work, Hela yielded to the god’s vision of outwitting the inevitable and granted his request, thus creating Kid Loki and Lady Loki.
