Biography 

Early Life

Cecilia was raised in an overprotective and religious household, homeschooled and cut off from external communication. Her parents only gave her carefully curated books and education, shielding her from the realities of the world. She was taught to believe mutants were the devil’s creation, unnatural beings meant to replace humanity’s “true children of God.” When she first manifested her powers, her parents panicked, urging her to hide them at all costs. This reinforced Cecilia’s fear and confusion, leaving her desperate for answers. 

Escaping

During a church service, a pastor spoke about mutants as distorted and dangerous beings, which shocked Cecilia. She realized for the first time that this was what her parents believed about her. When her mother broke down crying and her father tried to calm her, Cecilia understood that her family had been hiding the truth from her, punishing her not out of love, but fear. 

Seeking answers, she stole her mother’s phone and contacted a taxi to reach a nearby institution reputed for studying mutants. This was her first step toward independence.

As Safeguard

Cecilia eventually found her way to Xavier’s Institute, a place where she could be accepted and learn more about her powers. Though joining the Institute was difficult, she gradually adapted to life among other mutants.

 She became a member of the X-Men, taking on the codename Safeguard. Initially, she erected emotional and social “barriers,” mirroring her protective abilities, keeping others at a distance for fear of what might happen.

Graduation

Over time, Cecilia learned that being an X-Man meant breaking down those walls. With the X-Men, she discovered that protection wasn’t about hiding—it was about shelter, trust, and the freedom to live without fear. 

After Graduation Day, Cecilia grew into her role as both protector and bridge-builder, embodying the X-Men’s mission to defend mutants while fostering understanding with humanity as a doctor, leaving the heroic career and working alongside Moira McTarget on Muir Island.
